When should you start acupuncture for IVF?

It's one of the questions we hear most often—and while earlier preparation is generally recommended, there's no single "perfect" time to begin.

Many patients choose to start acupuncture 2–3 months before IVF, allowing time to support overall health before ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, or embryo transfer. During this time, treatment plans can be tailored to each phase of your IVF cycle.

That said, it's never too late to start. Whether you're preparing for your first consultation, beginning stimulation medications, getting ready for a retrieval, or have an embryo transfer just days away, supportive care can still be incorporated into your treatment plan.

Our goal is to complement your fertility care and provide individualized support wherever you are in your journey.

Inflammation isn't always obvious.

While it's an important part of the body's natural healing response, chronic inflammation may contribute to symptoms that seem unrelated—such as fatigue, brain fog, joint discomfort, digestive issues, or simply feeling like your body isn't recovering as well as it should.

Stress, sleep, nutrition, and overall lifestyle all influence the body's inflammatory response. That's why supporting whole-body health is often more effective than focusing on just one symptom.

Acupuncture may help support nervous system regulation, encourage healthy circulation, and promote the body's natural healing processes.

If you've been feeling "off" without a clear explanation, it may be worth looking at the bigger picture.

Preparing for a Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) involves much more than the day of transfer.

During an FET cycle, your fertility team carefully coordinates hormones to prepare the uterine lining and determine the ideal timing for embryo transfer. This preparation phase is an important opportunity to support your overall health and well-being.

Acupuncture is commonly incorporated alongside Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) cycles to support nervous system regulation, healthy uterine and pelvic circulation, and the body's response to hormonal changes throughout treatment.

Many patients begin acupuncture 6–12 weeks before an FET, allowing time to support the uterine environment before transfer. However, if your transfer is next week—or even tomorrow—it is still worthwhile to begin supportive care.

If you're preparing for a Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) in Houston and would like to learn how acupuncture can complement your IVF treatment plan, we'd be honored to be part of your journey.

Have you ever noticed your shoulders creeping up toward your ears after a stressful day?

The nervous system and muscles are closely connected. When stress becomes chronic, the body may remain in a more protective state, making it difficult for muscles to fully relax and recover.

Acupuncture may help support nervous system regulation, encourage relaxation of overworked muscles, and improve circulation to areas of persistent tension.

Sometimes feeling better starts with helping the body remember how to let go.

Do you ever feel like you're functioning in a mental haze?

Brain fog can show up as difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, reduced productivity, or feeling mentally exhausted even after getting enough sleep.

Stress, sleep disruption, inflammation, and hormonal changes can all influence cognitive function. Acupuncture may help support nervous system regulation, improve circulation, and encourage the body to shift into a more restorative state.

Sometimes improving mental clarity begins with helping the body recover more effectively.

Do you catch yourself clenching your jaw during the day?

TMJ discomfort and jaw tension can show up as soreness, clicking, headaches, facial pain, neck tightness, and even ear discomfort. For many people, stress plays a significant role in keeping these muscles active and guarded.

Acupuncture can help support nervous system regulation, encourage relaxation of overworked muscles, and improve circulation to affected tissues.

Small changes in muscle tension can sometimes make a meaningful difference in how you feel day to day.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer is connected to the Fire Element — a season associated with growth, joy, vitality, and connection.

When balanced, Fire helps us feel energized, engaged, and present. However, too much activity, stimulation, or heat can leave us feeling restless, depleted, or disconnected from our usual rhythms.

Supporting balance during the summer may be as simple as prioritizing sleep, staying hydrated, eating seasonal foods, and making time to recharge.

Acupuncture can also help support nervous system regulation and overall wellness during times of increased activity.

☀️ How are you supporting your balance this summer?

Acupuncture can also be incorporated at any stage of your fertility journey, whether you're trying naturally, preparing for IVF, or simply focusing on optimizing your health.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, food is more than nutrition — it’s a tool to help the body stay balanced.

TCM dietary therapy looks at how foods affect the body energetically. Some foods warm, some cool, some help build fluids, and others help resolve dampness.

It also considers:
• your individual constitution
• the season
• how foods interact with specific organ systems

During Houston summers, lighter and more hydrating foods like cucumber, pear, and mint can help the body stay balanced in heat and humidity.

Small, intentional changes in diet can make a noticeable difference in how you feel.
