Self-harm among children and adolescents is more common than many realize, and it often happens in silence. It can be a way for young people to cope with overwhelming emotions they don’t yet have the tools to express.

Warning signs may include:

🔴 Unexplained cuts, burns, or bruises.
🔴 Wearing long sleeves or covering up even in warm weather.
🔴 Withdrawing from friends or activities.
🔴 Frequent feelings of sadness, anxiety, or anger.
🔴 Talking about feeling numb, worthless, or overwhelmed.

Early intervention can make all the difference. If you’re concerned about your child or a teen you care about, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

At Kingwood Pines Hospital, we provide compassionate, age-appropriate mental health support to help children and teens heal and build healthier coping skills.

Making an impact in our schools and community. 💙🎤

We’re proud to share that our Community Liaison, Adam Clay, recently presented “Recreational Therapy and Rejuvenation” to more than 250 school counselors at the Harris County Department of Education’s “Thriving, Not Just Surviving” event.

This inspiring event focused on equipping school professionals with tools to support student well-being and self-care. We were honored to highlight the role of recreational therapy in promoting emotional healing, resilience and renewal.

At Kingwood Pines Hospital, we are passionate about collaborating with educators and community leaders to strengthen mental health support for individuals of all ages. 💙

👏 Thank you to the Harris County Department of Education for the opportunity and to all the counselors making a difference every day.

June is Men’s Mental Health Month, a time to recognize the courage it takes for men to speak up and prioritize their emotional well‑being. Many men have been taught to stay silent, to “push through,” or to carry their struggles alone, but silence shouldn’t be the expectation.

At Kingwood Pines Hospital, we’re committed to changing that narrative. Every man deserves support, understanding, and access to compassionate mental health care. Whether someone is facing stress, depression, anxiety, or a difficult season, our team is here 24/7 with evidence‑based treatment and a safe place to heal.

Asking for help is a sign of strength. Healing is strength. Your mental health matters.

This June, join us in raising awareness, encouraging open conversations, and supporting the men in our community.

Share this message, check in on the men in your life, and help us break the stigma together.
