The 2026 Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons Annual Meeting was a great reminder of why I enjoy being part of this specialty 👨🏻‍⚕️

There’s always something new to learn, new ideas to take home, and old friends and colleagues to reconnect with along the way. Grateful for the conversations, the people, and the opportunity to keep learning from others in our field.

See you next year 👋🏼

For me, Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration of where I come from and the culture that has shaped who I am 🇵🇪🤍

I was born and raised in Lima, Peru, and eventually made Houston my home. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of caring for patients from across the Latino and Hispanic community, and being able to speak with my patients in both English and Spanish has always been something I value 👨🏻‍⚕️

I’m proud of my Peruvian roots and grateful to be part of such a diverse community here in Houston.

¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana! ✨

The gold chain may have gotten all the attention in our past videos, but there’s another one of Dr. Newall’s signature gold pieces that never comes off, unless he’s in the OR, of course 👨🏻‍⚕️😂

Do you have a piece of jewelry you never take off? Tell us about it! 👇🏼

Thin, healthy, active... so why did her stomach still pouch out? 🤔 Sometimes, the answer isn’t what’s on the outside. It’s what’s happening underneath the skin.

, or happens when the connective tissue between the abdominal muscles becomes stretched and weakened. This can cause the abdomen to push outward, creating a noticeable bulge or “pooch” even in someone who is at a healthy weight. Pregnancy is a common cause, but it can also develop from significant weight changes, previous abdominal surgery, or other factors.

Diet and exercise can help with overall body composition, but when there is persistent separation of the abdominal wall, no amount of diet or exercise can physically bring the separated tissue back together.

For this patient, addressing the underlying abdominal wall helped create a flatter, more defined contour. Not every stomach pouch is caused by excess fat, and sometimes the solution goes deeper than diet and exercise. 👍🏼
_______________
