🚨 Not all trauma looks like what we see in movies.

Many people think trauma only happens after a major accident, natural disaster, or combat experience. But trauma can also develop after difficult relationships, childhood experiences, chronic stress, medical events, loss, or ongoing uncertainty.
When your nervous system has been overwhelmed, it may continue responding as though danger is still present—even when you're safe.

Signs of trauma and chronic stress can include:
• Feeling constantly "on edge" or easily startled
• Difficulty sleeping or staying asleep
• Irritability, anger, or emotional outbursts
• Trouble concentrating or remembering things
• Feeling emotionally numb or disconnected
• Avoiding certain people, places, or situations
• Frequent headaches, stomach issues, or unexplained physical symptoms
• Anxiety, panic, or racing thoughts
• Feeling exhausted despite getting rest

These responses are not signs of weakness. They are often your body's attempt to protect you.

Healing begins when we recognize what our nervous system has been carrying. With support, people can learn to feel safer, more present, and more connected to themselves and others.
If these signs sound familiar, know that help is available and healing is possible. 💙

Take 15 minutes today to slow everything down and reset your mind. No pressure, no multitasking—just a short pause for you.

STOP AND RELAX for 15 minutes:

Reading Meditation — let yourself get absorbed in calm words
Walking Meditation — feel each step, notice your surroundings
Breathing Meditation — slow inhale… slow exhale… just observe
Bath Meditation — let the water quiet your thoughts
Floating Meditation — imagine weightlessness and release tension

Even a few minutes of stillness can help bring clarity, calm, and balance back into your day.

How Well Do You Regulate Emotions?

Do you feel out of control when you experience emotions?
Are you fearful of getting stuck in them?
Or do you feel mostly neutral and wonder why others experience such intensity?

Take the quiz to better understand your emotional regulation patterns.

Emotions play an important role in our lives — they help us make decisions, communicate needs, and respond to our environment. We need our emotions.

However, when emotional intensity becomes too high or too low, it can create challenges in daily life. Emotional dysregulation may lead to behaviors like overeating, substance use, avoidance, or saying things impulsively that impact relationships. On the other hand, low emotional activation can show up as procrastination, numbness, low motivation, or difficulty pursuing goals.

This quiz is designed to help you get a clearer sense of how emotional regulation may be showing up in your life right now.

NOTE: This is not a diagnosis.

It’s not that you don’t care.
It’s that you’re tired.

When stress takes over, even the people you love most can start to feel far away. Conversations get shorter. Time together feels routine. And your own needs get pushed aside.

In this FREE webinar, From Stress to Connection: Using Play to Strengthen Relationships, you’ll explore how small moments of play can rebuild emotional connection — without pressure, perfection, or performance.

✨ You’ll learn how to:
• Reconnect with your partner in low-pressure ways
• Engage more fully with your children
• Feel more present with yourself
• Bring ease back into everyday interactions

💡 Myth vs. Fact 💡

❌ Myth: Social media always harms mental health.
✅ Fact: While excessive use can be harmful, social media can also provide connection, support, and community when used mindfully.

The key is balance—curating healthy online spaces, taking breaks when needed, and using social media in ways that support your well-being. 🌱💙

4 Parenting Tips for Chaotic Kids

Feeling overwhelmed by meltdowns, defiance, or constant chaos at home? The focus is on helping parents reduce emotional intensity and rebuild a stronger connection with their child or teen through practical, relationship-based strategies.

One key approach is creating “special time,” where even short, child-led moments of focused attention help reduce behavioral outbursts by strengthening attachment and emotional security. Another important strategy is expecting respect while also staying curious about what is driving difficult behavior, responding with listening, flexibility, and calm boundaries rather than escalating conflict. It also emphasizes building daily connections through simple, creative shared activities that support trust, communication, and positive interaction outside of moments of crisis.

Finally, it highlights the importance of recognizing when emotions are too heightened for conversation, encouraging parents to pause, regulate, and use calming tools before attempting to problem-solve.

Overall, it centers on shifting from reactive parenting to connection-first parenting, and when things feel consistently overwhelming, support through child therapy, teen counseling, or family therapy from Eddins Counseling & Therapy Group can help families restore calm and improve communication at home.
