If you're looking for Assisted Living or Memory Care in Texas, add these questions to your list.

Especially in Texas, where extreme heat, hurricanes and extended power outages can happen, emergency preparedness should be part of your decision—not something you learn about after an emergency.

Texas assisted living communities are required to have power-outage emergency plans, and families can request a summary of a community's plan.

Before choosing a community for someone you love, ask:

👉 What backup power does the community have?

👉 Which areas remain climate-controlled if the power goes out?

👉 How are residents who are bedfast protected?

👉 What happens if a resident depends on powered medical equipment?

👉 How and when will families be notified during an emergency?

👉 Can I see a summary of your emergency plan?

Don't be afraid to ask difficult questions. A beautiful building doesn't tell you what will happen when something goes wrong.
