There are no words big enough to carry the weight of this heartbreak. The tragedy at Camp Mystic has left a hole in our hearts that we will carry forever. In an instant, we lost not just friends, but pieces of ourselves. So many girls we know, Lainey, Mary Kate, Molly, are now gone. Lainey, one of Alesia’s , my daughter, best friends since PreK, one of the most beautiful souls we have ever known. Mary Kate, the sweetest girl we had the joy to coach last year at our soccer team the FIREFLIES. Molly, another friend that SBMSA sports gave us.

They laughed together, cried together, played sports together, dreamed about the future—and now we are left here without them, trying to make sense of a world that feels so suddenly empty. The flood may have taken them physically, but it will never wash away the memories, the love, and the light they brought into our lives.

To their families: I am holding you in my heart. To my friends: I will honor you always. And to everyone grieving with us- may we lean on each other, and never forget the love that connected us all.

Rest in peace, sweet girls. You will always be with us.
