Caring for children takes a special kind of skill and a whole lot of heart. 💙

From our pediatric medical-surgical unit to our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), our nurses work alongside board-certified pediatricians, critical care doctors and other specialists to care for children from birth through age 18.

For children who need a higher level of care, our PICU team is here 24 hours a day, providing specialized care and supporting families through some of their most challenging moments.

Last week, we had the opportunity to celebrate our incredible pediatric nurses during Pediatric Nurses Week. We're grateful for the knowledge, compassion and dedication they bring to caring for children and supporting their families every day. Thank you for all you do!

On World Mental Health Day, we're recognizing the importance of supporting the mental health of mothers with babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), especially during what can be an emotional and overwhelming experience.

Through our partnership with March of Dimes, we're expanding maternal mental health support with Mammha, a new resource for mothers of our NICU patients.

This service provides access to confidential mental health screenings, educational resources and personalized support, including virtual connections with care coordinators and mental health professionals when needed.

For our care teams, supporting our tiniest patients also means being there for the families who love them.

During Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, we are honored to stand alongside families and our community in remembrance of babies gone too soon.

We are proud to join Missing Pieces Support Group, The Harmonie Grace Foundation, Bo's Place and March of Dimes for the third annual Wave of Light Remembrance Ceremony this Sunday, October 11, at 5 p.m. at Levy Park in Houston.

Together, we’ll create a meaningful space for remembrance and connection through special activities, a moment of silence, the reading of angel baby names and a collective candle-lighting ceremony.

We invite our community to join us as we honor these babies and support the families who carry their memories forward.

Midwifery care and hospital-based maternity care can go hand in hand.

Our certified nurse midwives work alongside our obstetrician-gynecologists (OB/GYNs) to support those with low-to-moderate-risk pregnancies. Our hospital-based midwives can help you create a personalized birth plan and provide support throughout labor and delivery.

Midwifery care also extends beyond the delivery room. Our certified nurse midwives provide support for prenatal and postpartum care, family planning, breastfeeding, routine gynecologic needs and more.

During National Midwifery Week, we’re highlighting the important role midwives can play in providing personalized, patient-centered care throughout different stages of life.

When you or a loved one needs emergency care, your closest option may be a freestanding emergency room (FSER).

Offering convenient access to emergency care, FSERs can help you get the care you need close to where you are. With more than 30 locations across the Greater Houston area, HCA Houston ER 24/7 provides adult and pediatric emergency care services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.

For many people with blood cancer or other serious blood disorders, a blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant can offer hope — and it often starts with a donor.

According to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), most patients who need a transplant don’t have a fully matched donor in their family and rely on NMDP (formerly Be The Match) to help find one. NMDP ℠ is a global nonprofit leader in cell therapy that helps save the lives of patients with blood cancers and disorders.

As part of HCA Healthcare, we're proud to support this life-saving work through the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Network — one of the nation's leading providers of unrelated bone marrow donor transplants in the U.S. Each year, this extensive network helps connect tens of thousands of patients with the care they need.

You could be someone’s match. Learn more and join the registry at https://bit.ly/4z5kBa5.

When Annistyn was born at 22 weeks and 2 days, weighing just 415 grams, or 14.6 ounces, she was admitted to our Level IV NICU at The Woman's Hospital of Texas, where she would spend the next 260 days receiving specialized neonatal care.

Her mom, Kelsey, remembers the neonatal nurses who stood beside their family throughout that journey. “They were there for us on our most difficult days, and they never gave up on Annistyn,” she shared.

Today, Annistyn is starting PreK3 and Kelsey, inspired by the nurses who cared for her daughter, is in nursing school with hopes of becoming a NICU nurse herself.

This , Annistyn and Kelsey’s story is a meaningful reminder of the lasting impact NICU care can have on a family. Read more: https://bit.ly/4yndytC
