This week for Speech-Language-Hearing Month, we're highlighting the song, “Wheels on the Bus." 🚌
“Wheels on the Bus” is a great song to sing because you can mix and match the lyrics for so many language goals.
🗣A child can be on a swing and singing “[child’s name] on the swing goes [swing action]”. Use swing action words like round-and-round, up and down, fast and slow, and shake and stop. This song is a great way to target engagement, action words, and imitation skills.
🛁You can mimic this activity at home with your child using everyday routines, like bathtime. You can use different action word lyrics like “[child’s name] in the bath goes splash splash splash (or “wash", “clean","rinse", "dry ", etc.)”. After singing the action one time, let the child fill in the action word!
“Wheels on the Bus” is a classic go-to song that supports your child’s language development in a fun, interactive way!
