Doctor Jason Arday learned to talk at eleven. Learned to read and write at eighteen. Went on to become the youngest Black professor in the history of Cambridge. That is not a small life. That is a life built against odds most people never have to imagine.

In a matter of weeks, hundreds of articles were written questioning his credibility, his character, his integrity. Hundreds. Not over years. Weeks. Whatever the underlying facts were, that response was not accountability. That was a pile-on. That was public shaming dressed up as journalism.

He is dead now, at forty one.

As a therapist, I need to say this plainly. Dehumanizing a person is a weapon. It has always been a weapon of white supremacy and patriarchal control, stripping someone of their complexity until they are just a headline, just an accusation, just a story to pick apart. Bullying does not stop being bullying because the target is an adult, or a public figure, or someone accused of wrongdoing. It is dehumanizing. It is disgusting. It is incomprehensible that we still treat human beings this way and call it discourse.

If someone is struggling, if someone made mistakes, the answer is never to bury them in public contempt. The answer is to ask what is actually going on with this person. That is basic mental health literacy. That is basic human decency.

Aligning yourself with any system or pile-on that inflicts this kind of psychological violence on another person is not neutral. It is a choice. Choose different. *reposted photo from@thebritisjblacklist

Rest, Doctor Arday.

Just wrapped facilitating β€œUntangling Desire: Race and the Politics of Sexuality” β€” examining multiplicity and intersectionality in how we experience desire, identity, and connection.

We went there. The politics of desirability. Who gets deemed desirable, who gets fetishized, who gets erased, and how race shapes all of it. We also brought in an IFS lens, looking at the parts of us that hold shame, longing, and protection around desire and belonging.

Grateful for every person in the room who showed up ready to think, question, and go deeper. This work matters. More talks like this coming. Stay tuned.

The willingness to keep choosing each other, especially when it would be easier not to.

Embrace the unknown and rise above the fears. You already have the vision, and it's only a matter of time for that to become your reality; just keep going.

Act on inspiration, not on fear. Your journey is not random; something higher than your ego is guiding you through it all. The way appears to only those who walk the path.

So honored to announce I’ll be speaking at the National Association of Black Counslers !!
Happy Pride community!

Listen Y’all,

We were always whole.
Period full stop.

That belief sits at the center of the work I get to bring to the NABC Q***r Symposium this August in Baltimore. I am honored to share that my proposal, "We Were Always Whole: Reclaiming Ancestral Healing and Collective Grief Through a Decolonized Lens," has been accepted.

So much of what passes for clinical care asks Black and q***r people to be repaired, as if wholeness is something we lost and must earn back. I want to challenge that frame. Our grief is not a deficit to be managed. It is a form of memory, of lineage, of love that refused to disappear. When we treat collective grief as pathology, we sever people from the very ancestral practices that have always held us.

A decolonized lens does something different. It asks what healing looks like when it is rooted in community rather than compliance, in ritual rather than only protocol, in rest rather than constant proving. It makes room for the wisdom that lived in our people long before the field had language for it.

This session is for the clinicians, advocates, and community members doing this work in their own corners. We will sit with what it means to support Black LGBTQ+ communities without asking them to fragment themselves to be seen.

If this is your work too, I would love to see you there. NABC Q***r Symposium, August 7 and 8, Baltimore.

Happy πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Pride!

Tribe! I have NEWS and I am HYPED. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

I am SUPER excited to announce I will be facilitating a workshop at MIDWEST LOVEFEST

I'll be facilitating a workshop at Midwest Lovefest:
Unbroken Together: A Community Ceremony for Heartache and Healing

This is a full ceremonial experience β€” somatic, spiritual, communal. We are returning to the body together. We are doing liberation work in real time, in real community.
If you've been waiting for a space where ALL of you is welcome β€” your grief, your pleasure, your power, your wholeness β€” this is that space.
Stay tuned for dates and registration details. Tag someone who needs to be in the room. πŸŒΏπŸ’œπŸ”₯

yoooo I am psyched!! Collective Healing is my jam! πŸ₯³Let's heal together.

Midwest Love Fest is a three-day conference exploring skills, theory, and community, for those that relate differently. If you are on the journey of reconstructing what it means to be in relationship, this conference is for you!
