A lot of people grow up believing they are lazy, dramatic, unmotivated, careless, or “bad at life.”

Sometimes the issue is not effort.
Sometimes no one has fully identified what is actually happening underneath.

When someone finally receives the right assessment, the shift is often immediate.

Not because everything is suddenly fixed.
Because things finally make sense.

There is a different kind of relief that comes from understanding yourself accurately for the first time.

A good evaluation does not just label symptoms. It gives people language, direction, and clarity they may have never had before.

Do you think people wait too long before seeking evaluations?

A lot of people experiencing infertility feel pressure to stay positive the entire time.

Stay hopeful. Stay grateful. Keep trying.

Even when every month feels emotionally consuming.

What makes infertility so painful is that the grief often goes unseen. People continue showing up to work, answering texts, attending baby showers, and functioning normally while quietly carrying heartbreak in the background.

The uncertainty changes people.
The waiting changes people.

And many carry that pain silently because they do not feel allowed to fully acknowledge how heavy it really is.

Do you think infertility is still emotionally minimized?

Great news: Mylene is accepting new clients!

Mylene is a dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor and we are truly proud to call her a member of our team. She works with both adolescents and adults and has availability for both in-person and virtual appointments.

In addition to individual therapy, Mylene facilitates two groups through Coping Resource Center: Eating Disorders Family Support Group (for loved ones of those experiencing an eating disorder) and DBT Skills for Adults, co-facilitated with Dr. Nathan Barclay.

Mylene provides therapy in both English and Portuguese. Prior to joining Coping Resource Center, she worked with The Meadows IOP and Monte Nido & Affiliates, supporting adolescents and adults with eating disorders.

Fun fact: Originally from Brazil, Mylene is one of the co-founders of Cabelegria, a non-profit organization that started in her own apartment and today is one of the largest non-profits in Brazil. Cabelegria receives hair donations from all over the country to use to make wigs for patients suffering from cancer, alopecia, and other conditions that can cause hair loss – at no cost to them.

A lot of teens do not fall apart during the school year.

They stay busy enough to keep moving.
Assignments. Sports. Friends. Structure. Noise.

Then summer comes, everything slows down, and the anxiety finally has room to catch up.

We often see more withdrawal this time of year. More isolation. More sleeping. More emotional shutdown that parents did not notice before.

Not because summer caused it.
Because there is finally space for it to surface.

Some teenagers are not avoiding life.
They are emotionally exhausted.

Do you think parents sometimes mistake “quiet” for “doing okay”?

Burnout isn’t always about how much you’re doing.

Sometimes it’s about how much your mind is still carrying after you stop.

Thinking about work.
Planning ahead.
Running through everything that still needs to get done.

So even when you rest, your mind doesn’t.

That’s why it can still feel exhausting.

Creating even small moments where you’re not solving or planning, just being, can help your system reset in a different way.

You don’t need a full life overhaul to start feeling better.

Sometimes it starts with giving your mind permission to pause.

Social anxiety often isn’t about other people.

It’s about the pressure you put on yourself while you’re with them.

Saying the right thing.
Not pausing too long.
Making sure everything comes across “correctly.”

That pressure can make conversations feel harder than they need to be.

One helpful shift is gently bringing your attention back to the moment.

What the other person is saying.
What’s actually happening right now.

Even a small shift outward can make things feel less intense.

And over time, that can make interactions feel more natural again.

Grief can come back even when you thought you were doing better.

That doesn’t mean you’re starting over.
It usually means something meaningful is still there.

A memory.
A connection.
A moment that mattered.

Grief doesn’t follow a straight line.
It moves in waves.

Over time, the goal isn’t to make it disappear.
It’s to carry it in a way that feels a little more steady.

And that shift often happens more gently than people expect.
