🌞 Heat Alert: Stay Hydrated, Stay Safe! 🌞
As we head into a week of early-season heat with temperatures soaring into the 90s and above, it's critical to prioritize hydration and heat safety—especially if you're spending time outdoors or working in the sun.
💧 Hydration Tips for Hot Weather:
Drink water regularly—don’t wait until you’re thirsty. Aim for at least 8–10 glasses a day, more if you're sweating.
Avoid dehydrating drinks like alcohol, sugary sodas, or too much caffeine.
Replenish electrolytes if you're sweating heavily—coconut water, electrolyte tablets, or a pinch of salt and sugar in water can help.
Eat hydrating foods like watermelon, cucumbers, oranges, and leafy greens.
Keep a refillable water bottle with you at all times and sip throughout the day.
⚠️ Watch for signs of dehydration and heat exhaustion:
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Headache
Dry mouth or sticky saliva
Fatigue or muscle cramps
Decreased urination or dark yellow urine
👶🏽👵🏾 Children, older adults, and people with chronic conditions are especially vulnerable. Check in on neighbors, and never leave anyone (or pets!) in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
Let’s take care of ourselves and each other—this heat means business even if summer hasn’t officially begun.
Stay safe, stay cool, and stay hydrated! 🧊💦
