Sauna Matka Aufguss
Saturday • 5:45 p.m.

Our monthly Saturday evening ritual carries the spirit of Sauna Matka into a three-round Aufguss.

Sauna Matka is our signature seven-part sauna journey, developed with Finnish sauna consultant

On a Saturday evening, that journey takes on another layer of meaning. In Finnish culture, Saturday sauna has long marked the passage from the work of the week into the quiet of Sunday.

𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗻𝗲
You are still carrying the world, but beginning to set it down. Aromas chosen to calm the nerves, quiet the mental chatter, and soften the pace.

𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝘄𝗼
The crossing. The sacred middle. No longer in the week, not yet at rest. Just here. Aromas you can sink into — something that lets you simply be.

𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲
Moving toward Sunday — your day of rest. The final aromas refresh and lift, easing away residual tension.

Not sent back out into the night, but carried forward — leaving lighter, cleaner, and pointed toward rest.

BRIDAL SAUNA GIVEAWAY

We’re giving one bride + up to 8 of her closest people a complimentary New Beginnings Bridal Sauna Ritual at Saunawelt, Houston’s public European sauna house in Webster/Clear Lake.

Developed with our Helsinki-based sauna consultant, Terhi Ruutu, the ritual draws on Finnish sauna tradition and includes sauna + cooling rounds, an herb-and-salt ceremony, our Salt & Honey Peel, and traditional birch whisking.

The selected group will take part in a Saunawelt photo + video shoot during the experience. All participants must be comfortable being photographed and filmed in swimwear, with the resulting images and video used in Saunawelt marketing and editorial content.

What does sauna culture look like when sauna isn’t a special occasion?

Quite a lot like this.

Saturday in the Brechelbad: yarrow + thyme.

The Brechelbad has its roots in Alpine farming communities, where warmth, wood and gathered herbs became part of the sauna experience.

At Saunawelt, the herbs are distilled through the Brechel oven, releasing their fragrance gently into the room.

Today’s blend is yarrow and thyme — earthy, green and quietly aromatic.
