“I would like to give a strong and heartfelt shoutout to McKenzie Erwin for her continued commitment to Gulf Coast Society of Health System Pharmacists and her remarkable impact on the Houston region. Her dedication to student development and mentorship truly sets her apart. McKenzie has gone above and beyond in creating meaningful opportunities for students. This includes, but is not limited to, participating in the SSHP at UH College of Pharmacy Dinner with a Pharmacist for those interested in administrative pharmacy and HSPAL, where she fostered connection, insight, and inspiration. She also played a key role in University of Houston College of Pharmacy SSHP Residency Bootcamp, supporting University of Houston students by reviewing CVs, offering personalized guidance, and helping them navigate the residency decision-making process with confidence. Beyond structured events, McKenzie consistently invests in people. She actively checks in with P4 students, providing mentorship and thoughtful advice regardless of their chosen career path. Her ability to meet students where they are and support their growth speaks volumes about her character and leadership. Additionally, through her work with the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center externship program, she helps shape the next generation of pharmacists by focusing not only on clinical readiness but also on developing people first pharmacists who deliver compassionate, patient-centered care. McKenzie’s influence extends far beyond individual interactions. She is building a stronger, more connected, and more prepared pharmacy community in Houston. Her passion, leadership, and unwavering support for others make her incredibly deserving of recognition."
