Michael J Keenan PHD Clinical Psychologist

Michael J Keenan PHD Clinical Psychologist Everyone deserves to be whole! These are just a few of the possible challenges people just like you are faced with on a daily basis.

Since Dr. Keenan opened his doors in Houston, Texas (1989), our goal has been to treat all patients with the respect that they deserve. People consider therapy for many reasons - relationship issues; anxiety; PTSD; flashbacks; rage; cutting; study skills; addictions; or a need for expert advice. Many patients are high functioning but have an unresolved area of their life over which they silently s

uffer. Others desperately struggle just to get up in the morning and meet the requirements of the day. Whatever you are experiencing, Dr. Keenan is here to help. His kind, yet straight-forward approach allows for practical solutions while also focusing on the deeper, internal roadblocks that sabotage one's ability to succeed in all aspects of life. Remember that therapy is a process, not a one-time fix - although much can be accomplished in a single visit. The length of the process depends upon you. Dr. Keenan is ready to move you as fast as you can comfortably move, and does so with a calm, steady approach.

Back-to-School Stress Is Real for Parents, Too!

Back-to-school time can be exciting, but it can also be a little stressful. New schedules, earlier mornings, homework, sports, activities, lunches, and everything else that comes with the school year can make life feel pretty busy.

While we spend a lot of time helping kids get ready for school, parents and caregivers are adjusting to the new routine, too!

Here are a few ways to make the transition a little easier:

• Give yourself a little grace. It may take some time for everyone to get used to the new routine.

• Get ready the night before. Pack lunches, set out clothes, and gather school items to make mornings easier.

• Remember, you don’t have to be perfect. Some days will go smoothly, and some won’t. That’s okay.

• Forgotten lunches happen! So do missed alarms, lost papers, and last-minute changes. Don’t let one rough morning ruin your whole day.

• New schedules can feel like a lot. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, chances are you’re not the only parent feeling that way.

• Take a break when you need one. Find simple, healthy ways to relax and recharge, even if it’s only for a few minutes.

• Make time to hear about your child’s day. Ask what made them smile, what they learned, or what was hard. A few minutes of talking can help you stay connected.

• Give your family time to find its new rhythm. Before long, those new routines may start to feel a lot more normal.

The start of a new school year is a big adjustment for the whole family. Be patient with your kids - and remember to be patient with yourself, too.

Father’s Day (June 21st) can bring appreciation, reflection, gratitude, or even complicated emotions. Taking a moment to acknowledge the people who shaped us can be meaningful in many ways.

For some, the day is filled with celebration and connection. For others, it may bring reminders of loss, distance, difficult relationships, or unmet expectations. Whatever your experience, know that your feelings are valid.

Father's Day can be an opportunity to reflect on the lessons, support, resilience, and growth that have influenced your journey. It can also be a reminder to extend compassion to yourself and others, recognizing that every family story is unique.

Wishing peace, healing, and meaningful moments to all who will be reflecting on Father’s Day.
