💙✨ Caring for our community doesn’t just happen in the clinic, it happens everywhere.

Over the past few weeks, Legacy Community Health’s pharmacy teams have been out in the community, connecting with families, sharing resources, and helping people better understand their health.

From the Zeta Phi Beta Resource Fair to events at Hicks Elementary and Day in the Park in Beaumont, our teams:

🩺 Provided blood pressure and blood glucose checks

💬 Answered questions and shared helpful health information

🛍️ Gave out everyday tools like pill boxes and medication disposal bags

These moments may seem small, but they matter. A quick screening can raise awareness, and a simple conversation can help someone take the next step toward better health.

💙 This is what Health Beyond Care looks like, showing up, listening, and supporting our communities wherever we can.

Who knew pickleball could be so powerful?

Our community came to play – and they didn’t disappoint. The inaugural Legacy Open brought the competition and team spirit together to rai over $50,000 for our behavioral health programs.

That means more access to mental health support, more care for our families, and people connected to the help they need.

💙 Thank you to title sponsor H-E-B and everyone who played, cheered, and showed up. You helped make a difference and had a great time doing it.

💙🌼 Celebrating the people who go above and beyond for our patients.

Legacy Community Health is proud to recognize our inaugural DAISY Award honorees, honoring nurses and leaders who bring compassion, kindness, and care to every interaction.

Congratulations to:

✨ Edwin Araujo, RN, whose calm and caring approach helps every patient feel seen and supported

✨ Mary Marquez, Regional Nurse Manager, whose leadership uplifts her team and creates an environment where great care can happen every day

The DAISY Award recognizes those who make a difference not just through clinical skill, but through empathy and connection, especially during life’s most important moments.

This spirit is also reflected in Mary’s recent Univision interview for Semana Nacional de las Enfermeras, where she shares more about the heart behind her work:

💙✨ A friendly face can make all the difference.

Today we’re spotlighting our Legacy Montrose Front Desk team. These are often the first smiles our patients see and the people who help set the tone for every visit.

Health Beyond Care isn’t just about what happens in an exam room. It’s about being welcomed, listened to, and supported from the moment you walk through the door. Our front desk teams play a big role in making that happen every single day.

💙 Thank you to our Montrose staff for the care, kindness, and connection you bring to our community.

💙💊 Behind every prescription is a team committed to your care.

More than 230 members of Legacy Community Health’s Pharmacy team joined our 2026 Pharmacy Retreat, a day focused on connection, teamwork, and improving how we serve our patients.

The retreat centered on making care more accessible and affordable, strengthening teamwork across clinics, and finding better ways to remove barriers that can make getting medications hard. Every conversation came back to one goal: making sure patients get the medications and support they need to stay healthy.

Our pharmacy teams also spent time problem solving around patient experience, access to care, and how to continue delivering high quality service across our communities. The day included team building activities, appreciation moments, and celebrating the people who make this work possible, including recognizing Juan Damian, the first recipient of Legacy’s Pharmacy Pillar Award.

At Legacy, we know that great care doesn’t happen by accident. It takes teamwork, dedication, and people who care deeply about the communities they serve.

💙 When you pick up a prescription at Legacy, you’re supported by a team that’s focused on you.

💙🧠 You’re not alone and support is available.

If you’re a new or expecting mom, Maternal Mental Health Day is a reminder that emotional and mental health changes during pregnancy and after birth are common and nothing to feel ashamed of. Many new mothers experience perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), which can show up as sadness, worry, irritability, feeling disconnected, or simply feeling overwhelmed. These experiences are real, and they are treatable with the right support.

Taking care of your mental health is just as important as prenatal or postpartum checkups. Support can help ease symptoms, strengthen bonding, and improve well-being for both you and your baby and getting help early can make a meaningful difference.

For many new moms, finding time for care can feel impossible. That’s where telehealth can help. Virtual mental health visits allow you to talk with a licensed professional from home, during nap time, between feedings, or whenever it works best for you, without travel, childcare, or added stress.

Telehealth support may help with:

✨ Postpartum anxiety or depression
✨ Mood changes, stress, or emotional overload
✨ Feeling disconnected, exhausted, or unsure
✨ Mental health support for the whole family, when needed

If you’ve been wondering whether what you’re feeling is “normal,” or if you’ve been putting your own needs last, this is your reminder that help is meant for you too.

💙 Health Beyond Care means showing up for our community together, wherever health happens.

Legacy Community Health was proud to be part of two community events over one weekend that brought people together around wellness, connection, and prevention: Black Men’s Wellness Day 2026 in Houston and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Health Fair in Missouri City.

At both events, our Legacy Pharmacy teams and AmeriCorps Pharmacy Advocates connected with neighbors and families to share health resources, answer medication questions, and provide blood pressure and blood glucose screenings. These moments created space not just for check ins, but for meaningful conversations about staying healthy in everyday life.

Community members also received Legacy tote bags filled with practical tools to support health at home, including pill boxes, medication disposal bags, stress balls, hot and cold packs, small first aid kits, and educational materials. We also shared information about Legacy’s clinics, pharmacy services, and the upcoming Legacy Acres Homes clinic, bringing more care closer to home.

These events were about more than appointments or prescriptions. They were about education, movement, connection, and prevention with marathons, Zumba classes, music, and shared moments that reminded us how powerful community based care can be.

Thank you to the organizers of Black Men’s Wellness Day and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority for creating welcoming spaces for learning and connection, and to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and took steps toward caring for their health.

💙 We’re grateful to be part of a community that looks out for one another, inside and outside the clinic.

🧠💙 Have you noticed your child feeling more anxious, withdrawn, or overwhelmed lately?

Kids experience stress, big emotions, and behavioral changes just like adults do and when those feelings go unaddressed, they can impact school, relationships, and confidence over time. Supporting children’s mental health early helps build resilience, coping skills, and emotional balance that last well beyond childhood.

Here are a few ways families can support children’s mental well-being at home and in daily life:

✨ Keep routines consistent whenever possible, predictability helps kids feel safe and grounded.
✨ Encourage movement and play, which can reduce stress and support emotional regulation.
✨ Create space to talk, even short check ins help kids feel heard without pressure.
✨ Notice changes in mood, sleep, focus, or behavior that last more than a few weeks.
✨ Ask for support early, mental health concerns are easier to manage when addressed sooner.

Support doesn’t only happen at home. Access to care matters, too. Pediatric behavioral health services, including telehealth visits, can help families connect with licensed professionals when in person appointments feel hard to manage due to schedules, transportation, or childcare needs.

Mental health is also strengthened through connection and community. Shared activities, time outdoors, and opportunities to move and decompress together, like community events, can play a meaningful role in reducing stress and supporting emotional well-being for both kids and parents.

💙 Caring for children’s mental health takes many forms, and support is available when you need it.

💙 Black Maternal Health Week may have passed but the work and the conversation must continue.

Black mothers continue to face higher risks during pregnancy and childbirth, often due to systemic barriers inside healthcare itself and awareness remains critical year round.

Recently, the Defender Network highlighted this ongoing crisis and the voices working to address it, including Dr. Erica Giwa, Medical Director of OB/GYN at Legacy Community Health. Dr. Giwa continues to advocate for safer, more responsive care for Black mothers across Houston, reminding us that most pregnancy related deaths are preventable when concerns are heard and acted on early.

At Legacy, this work shows up through prenatal navigation, postpartum support, and care models designed to stay with mothers before, during, and after pregnancy, especially during the often overlooked postpartum period.

If you missed Black Maternal Health Week coverage, this is a meaningful moment to pause, reflect, and learn more about what’s happening and what’s possible.
