The Holy Truth About Fibromyalgia & Chronic Illness

Sometimes we spend so much time asking God, “Why?” that we forget Who He is.

Today the Lord reminded me of Job 38:1–7. When Job wanted answers, God answered him from the whirlwind—not by explaining every detail, but by revealing His greatness.

“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?” (Job 38:4)

That question wasn’t meant to shame Job. It was a reminder that God sees what we cannot see. His wisdom reaches beyond our understanding, and His plans are never limited by our perspective.

When I don’t understand what God is doing, I will choose to trust the One who created the heavens and the earth. If He laid the foundation of the world with perfect wisdom, He can certainly carry me through every storm in my life.

Sometimes the greatest answer God gives isn’t an explanation—it’s His presence.

💜 Fibromyalgia is more than “just pain.” 💜

Some days, we smile while fighting battles no one can see.

Some days, we celebrate making it out of bed.

Some days, we have enough strength to enjoy life for a little while.

And other days… simply taking a shower, getting dressed, or making a meal feels like climbing a mountain.

Fibromyalgia is a real, chronic condition that affects the way the brain and nervous system process pain. It doesn’t just affect the body—it can impact sleep, memory, energy, emotions, work, relationships, and everyday life.

Please remember:
✨ Just because someone “looks fine” doesn’t mean they feel fine.
✨ Be kind. You never know what someone is carrying.
✨ To everyone living with fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, Long COVID, or another invisible illness—you are seen, you are believed, and you are never alone.

I’ve heard pastors and counselors talk about how rejection, abandonment, betrayal, and deep emotional hurt can affect the body. While fibromyalgia is a real medical condition, many people living with chronic pain have also experienced seasons of heartbreak, trauma, or feeling unwanted.

Today, I want to encourage you to ask God not only to heal your body, but also to heal your heart.

Maybe you’ve been rejected by family.
Maybe you’ve been rejected by friends.
Maybe you’ve been rejected by a spouse.
Maybe you’ve even felt rejected by the church.

But God says something different about you.

📖 “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
— John 14:18

📖 “Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.”
— Psalm 27:10

📖 “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”
— Psalm 147:3

Whether your pain came from illness, injury, stress, trauma, or something doctors still cannot explain, know this: God sees every tear, every sleepless night, every painful step, and every battle you fight.

Today, I pray that God heals the places where rejection tried to convince you that you were not enough.

You are chosen.
You are loved.
You are seen.
You are valuable.
You are God’s masterpiece.

And even in the middle of fibromyalgia, God has not forgotten you. 💜

Every morning, the battle is real, even when no one else can see it. Pain, fatigue, and weakness try to speak louder than hope—but God’s Word reminds us that weakness is not the end of the story. “For when I am weak, then am I strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10). In the middle of chronic illness, breathlessness, and exhaustion, His strength shows up in ways we never could on our own. If this is your fight today, know this: you are seen, you are held, and you are not alone.

WHAT COLD WEATHER DOES TO A CHRONIC ILLNESS BODY

When the body is exposed to freezing temperatures, it goes into survival mode. Blood vessels tighten to protect vital organs, which reduces circulation to the muscles, joints, and nerves.

For someone with fibromyalgia, long-haul COVID, or ME/CFS, this can cause:
• Widespread nerve pain and burning sensations
• Deep muscle stiffness and spasms
• Joint pain that feels sharp, aching, or crushing
• Extreme fatigue and weakness
• Increased brain fog and dizziness
• Heightened sensitivity to pain (even light touch can hurt)

Cold also stresses the nervous system, which is already dysregulated in chronic illness. The body struggles to regulate temperature, pain signals misfire, and inflammation increases. What feels like “just cold weather” to others can feel debilitating and unbearable to us.

This isn’t weakness.
This is a body fighting every day to survive.
And God sees it all.

PRAYER

Lord,
You see every nerve, every ache, every tear cried in silence.
Wrap Your warmth around bodies that tremble in the cold.
Calm the nervous systems that are overwhelmed.
Restore circulation, bring comfort to aching joints,
and quiet the pain that tries to steal our strength.

Be our refuge when the cold intensifies the suffering.
Cover us with Your peace, Your healing, and Your unfailing love.
We trust You even in the pain.
In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏
