This is one of the many reasons it is so important for patients with Lymphedema to have a dedicated Certified Lymphedema Therapist following up with them throughout their journey.

I just saw a patient that has been with me for almost 20 years. During her visit, she mentioned that she is struggling more and more with the assistive device that she was discharged with after treatment almost 2 decades ago.

How grateful I am that we have these follow ups every 6 to 12 months because this is a lifelong condition. As our bodies evolve and change, sometimes the assistive devices need to change.

She was so happy, leaving with the EZ As device because it will reduce the amount of strain on her unaffected shoulder.

it’s a happy Friday here at Wyatt Rehab!!🎉🎉

10 years ago, I was fortunate enough to win an incredible trip through JOBST/BSN Medical to visit the world-renowned Földi Clinic in Hinterzarten, Germany! 🇩🇪

What made this experience even more special was sharing it with my dear friend and colleague, Cindy! She has been my go-to person for garment measurements, troubleshooting challenges, and everything in between throughout my career as a lymphedema therapist.

Together, we hiked through the beautiful Black Forest, visited local restaurants that treated you like family, put on our white scrubs, and had the incredible opportunity to participate in patient rounds with Professor Földi herself! We learned alongside lymphedema therapists treating patients from around the world and gained invaluable knowledge!!!

But this trip gave me so much more than professional education. I experienced a beautiful culture, formed meaningful friendships, and gained perspectives that have shaped me not only as a lymphedema therapist, but also as a wife, mother, and friend.

I hope to return one day with my own family so I can share this incredible place with them and reconnect with some of the wonderful people I met along the way.

Cindy, I will cherish the memories of this trip for the rest of my life. Thank you for sharing this unforgettable adventure with me, for being such an amazing colleague, and most importantly, for being an even better friend. ❤️

Some experiences teach us, some inspire us, and some stay with us forever. This trip did all three! ❤️🥹

CDT (Complete Decongestive Therapy) works but it wasn’t meant to be filtered down like this. We can do better! 🤓🤪🫣😖

10/01/2026

Matt Cash from Lily Clinic inspired me to get back on social media. (For many reasons, I’m not a big fan of social media). But for reasons like this, I want to share my experience to help as many people as possible. Unfortunately, after 25 years of being of Lymphedema Therapist, there are still patients like Miss Timbuktu who need help.😞😞

I can’t tell you how many times Wyatt Rehab therapists and patients alike have had moments like this. It’s because Complete Decongestive Therapy DOES really work. It works when you have a committed patient. It works when the Lymphedema therapist is able to provide pure CDT, which means bandaging, manual lymph drainage, treatment 5 days a week during the intensive phase, measuring for compression garments, fitting compression garments, following up with the patient during self care phase, etc. 😌😌😌

If you are not providing or receiving that type of care, it is not pure, Complete Decongestive Therapy. 🧐🧐🧐

Thank you, Matt, for sharing this tender moment. You are absolutely right, this is one of the major reasons why we stay in this challenging work, for moments like this!!! 🥹🥹🥰🥰

🌟 Happy Physical Therapy Month! 🌟

Physical therapists play a vital role in helping individuals recover from injury, manage chronic conditions, and optimize their movement to live active, healthy lives. From hospitals and outpatient clinics to schools, sports, and home health, PTs bring expertise and compassion to diverse settings.

With specialties spanning orthopedics, sports, neurology, women’s health, geriatrics, pediatrics, and more, physical therapy touches every stage of life. 💪✨

This month, we celebrate the impact of PTs everywhere, thank you for your dedication to improving quality of life through movement!

THIS is the way to do it!!! Kudos to this amazing team!! CLTs should be part of every Lymphedema surgery!!

Dr. Granzow is one of the first Lymphedema surgeons that I met over a decade ago at the national Lymphedema network convention. He has been engaging within the Lymphedema community and teaching his protocol for so long and I admire the way he collaborates with Lymphedema Therapists to provide the absolute best treatment.🎉🎉🎉🎉

I had the honor to be in the operating room for my first patient going through SAPL nearly 10 years ago. We carefully discussed what our pre and post op plan would be. The surgeon at the time was open to my recommendations. I wrapped her extremity immediately after the surgery was completed. The nurses held her leg while I wrapped as quickly as I could so she could get into recovery room. They were amazed and interested and engaged. Her outcome was beyond optimal because it involved her lymphedema doctor and her CLT! Unfortunately I don’t believe many of the programs today integrate Lymphedema Therapist in the operating room or immediately after surgery.

Let’s do better!! It is the most optimal way to support the lymphatic system if you are going to choose to do a Lymphedema surgery.

What are your experiences with lymphedema surgery? Have you had a CLT involved in pre post op care? Please share! ☺️

Recently, we snapped this photo of our busy CLTs Julie S and Marcy tag teaming in the OR to bandage a patient immediately following bilateral Granzow SAPL℠ surgery (Suction Assisted Protein Lipectomy). Four hands are better than two!

One of the reasons I LOVE being a Lymphedema Therapist is the Arts & Crafts component!!! 😁✂️
