On behalf of the family of Mrs. Mary Ann Freeman-Jeffries, we humbly announce the service details to celebrate and honor her life on Saturday, August 8, 2026; 11:00am at The South Central District Building in Hugo, OK.

Mary Ann was born on March 26, 1957, and raised in the Gay/Bluff community of Hugo, Oklahoma.

She was very active in school. She served as a Majorette for two years, was active in FHA for four years, a Cheerleader for two years, a basketball player for four years, contributed to the annual staff for one year, and participated in the Senior Play. Her enthusiasm and school spirit left a lasting impression on classmates and teachers alike.

Mary Ann was a child of God and a devoted member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith guided her life and service.

She was married to Wallace Jeffries. She was the beloved mother of one daughter, Andresa Freeman, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Professionally, Mary Ann worked as a CNA and Home Health Aide, and spent many years employed at the B & B Onion Factory in Hugo. Her dedication and compassion touched the lives of those she cared for and worked beside.

Mary quietly entered into eternal rest on July 28, 2026, at the age of 69. She will forever be loved and remembered by her daughter, Andresa Freeman; two grandsons, Shermar Freeman and Kyon Freeman; six great grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Jeffries; two brothers, Charles Rose and Amos Rose; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Though her time on earth has ended, Mary Ann’s spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved and knew her — in her family’s laughter, her community’s memories, and the faith she carried so gracefully.

On behalf of the family of Mr. Luther Levorn Harris, we humbly announce the service details to celebrate and honor his life on Saturday, August 8, 2026; 12:00pm at The Eternal Life Fellowship Church in Hugo, OK.

Luther was born on September 28, 1948, in Grant, Oklahoma, to Jack Hare and Ethel “Inez” Harris. He grew up in Grant and attended both Grant and Hugo schools. Luther was baptized at St. Paul Methodist Church and graduated from Grant High School in 1966.

In May of 1968, Luther was inducted into the United States Army in Oklahoma City. During his service, he was promoted to Specialist 4th Class in November 1969. He earned a medal for honorable active duty service, along with badges recognizing his marksmanship—Marksman qualification with the M14 rifle and Expert qualification with the M16 rifle. Luther served in the Vietnam War, where he received medals for good and heroic conduct in a combat zone. In January 1970, he transferred from active duty to the U.S. Army Reserve to complete his military contract at Fort Lewis, Washington, and he received an honorable discharge in May 1974.

After completing his military service, Luther lived in Oklahoma City, Phoenix, and Tulsa before returning to the Hugo/Grant area. Throughout his life, he was greatly loved by his family and known for being fun and full of character. Luther cherished life on his little farm, where he found joy in caring for his animals and tending to the land. He especially loved spending time with his family and looked forward to the Fourth of July each year, when his great nieces and nephews would visit to light fireworks and fill the evening with laughter and celebration.

Luther passed away on June 28, 2026 at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest daughter, Jennifer Harris; and his sister, Ludeen Harris.

He leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Johnnie Mae Robinson of Hugo, Oklahoma (now of Dallas, Texas); two sons, Luther Cobb of Fort Worth, Texas, and Rusty Harris of Paris, Texas; one daughter, Penny Thompson of Phoenix, Arizona; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him deeply.

He will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Grant, Oklahoma.

It is with heartfelt reverence that we announce the heavenly transition of Mrs. Clara L. Biggers Mayes, who was called to her eternal home on Monday, June 29, 2026.

A service celebrating her life and legacy will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the South Central District Building, 506 S. Dewitt, Hugo, Oklahoma.

In God’s perfect timing, though sooner than any could have imagined, Ms. Patsy Ruth Fulsom Rambo entered her eternal rest on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the age of 60. Born February 5, 1966, in Hugo, OK, she grew up in Valliant, OK and later made her home in Wright City, OK.

Patsy was a devoted Christian and lifelong, faithful member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, in Wright City. Her great faith shaped every part of her life. She was known for her caring spirit, servant’s heart, and her joy in sharing God’s love with others, especially passing her faith on to the next generation.

Patsy attended Kiamichi Technology Center and was a published poet who loved writing. She spent nearly ten years serving families through "SOS for Families" and was always willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed fishing, camping, working in her yard, meeting new people, and spending time with those she loved.

Patsy was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Fulsom; her father, Curtis Fulsom; her birth mother, Verdie Mae Washington; her birth father, Lewis Washington; her sister, Margaret Washington; and her brothers, Leif Washington and Lewis Washington, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: David Johnson of Wright City, Oklahoma, and fiancée Kelli Battiest; Darrien Rambo and wife Candice Rambo of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; and Janetta Collins and husband Athaniel Collins of Skiatook, Oklahoma.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, including Shakira “Doll Baby” Turner, Jaxon Hammock, and Milly Watkins; her siblings Wanda, Thelma Reed, Jerry, Eddie, and Thelma Cooks, Mattie Henderson, Ora Foster, Freddie, James, Perry, David, Steven and Wanda; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and many dear friends.

On Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, family & friends will gather at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist church for a time of remberance and reflection. The address is East 5th Street in Wright City, OK.

Funeral Service will be Friday, June 12, 2026 at 11:00 AM, also at the Oak Grove church. Preceding the service at the church will be a viewing from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, for a final glimpse.

Patsy leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion, service, and love that touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

We respectfully announce the passing of the deeply beloved and highly esteemed Ms. Maud Eva Webster Woods, who slipped peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, June 5, 2026, just shy of her 95th birthday. She was born on June 24, 1931 in Sawyer, Oklahoma to Henry and Arizona Webster. Her life was beautifully lived—full, accomplished, and marked by the deep respect and admiration of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Arizona Webster; husband, Wilbert Woods; brothers, Earsel Webster, Arthur Webster and Quincy Webster; sisters, Maple Martin and Ola Faye Andrews; and grandson, Khomeini Diaab.

She is survived by her son, Alvis Woods Diaab of Hugo, Oklahoma; her sister, Odessa Black, also of Hugo, Oklahoma; and her brother, Odysseus Webster of San Francisco, California. She is also survived by four grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will hosted by her home church—Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 908 S Cross Street in Little Rock, Arkansas 72202 on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11:00am. Her FUNERAL SERVICE will be held the following day in Hugo, Oklahoma—Saturday, June 13th at 1:00pm at the South Central District Building, 506 S. Dewitt.

Gloria McFadden, lovingly known as Pinky Bray, was born and raised in Hugo, Oklahoma to the late Cecil and Mildred Bray. She later married Earl McFadden.

She was the mother of three children: Sheila Herron, James Rosewell, Jr., and Larry Wrice, Jr.

As her health began to decline, Gloria moved to Oklahoma City, OK to live with her daughter, Sheila and son in law, where she remained in their care until God called her home. Gloria loved the Lord and had a great love for attending church, singing, and playing the piano—gifts she shared freely and faithfully.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Mildred Bray; her husband, Earl McFadden; her sister, Clara Pugh; and brothers, Jimmy Bray and Sylvester Bray. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sheila Herron; her sons, James Rosewell, Jr. and Larry Wrice Jr.; her grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

We respectfully announce the passing of Reverend Melvin Anderson, on April 20, 2026. He was born on June 6, 1947, to Ed and Coran Anderson in Idabel, Oklahoma, and grew up in the Springhill Community. After completing his education in Idabel, he joined the United States Army in 1965. Following his military service, he moved in Gary, Indiana, and later to Philadelphia, where he eventually retired. In his later years, he returned home to Idabel, Oklahoma.

Melvin was a giving person who lived a life devoted to the Lord, he cared for others, and was loved by many. He will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

His life will be celebrated on Saturday, May 2, 2026, 11:00am at Rebecca Baptist Church, 4043 Pollard Road, Haworth, Oklahoma. Burial will be at Williamston Cemetery in Idabel.

We respectfully announce the passing of Mr. Vernell Neal, who passed on April 14, 2026 at the age of 60. Vernell was born on April 28, 1965, in Idabel, Oklahoma, to Vernon Neal, Sr. and Augustine Neal. He attended Valliant High School in Valliant, Oklahoma, and was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. Vernell worked many years in construction, including at the Conley Ranch, and held various other jobs throughout his life.
