Perimenopause: The Transition That Often Starts Earlier Than You Think

Many women are surprised to learn that perimenopause can begin in their late 30s or 40s, even while they're still having regular periods.

During this natural transition, hormone levels begin to fluctuate, and those changes can affect much more than your menstrual cycle.

You may notice:

• Changes in your sleep
• Mood swings or increased irritability
• Brain fog or trouble concentrating
• Fatigue that doesn't seem to improve with rest
• Weight changes, especially around the midsection
• Hot flashes or night sweats
• Irregular menstrual cycles

While these symptoms are common, they shouldn't simply be dismissed as "just getting older."

Your body is adapting to a significant hormonal transition, and supporting it with healthy lifestyle habits can make a meaningful difference.

Some ways to support your body during perimenopause include:

✔ Prioritizing quality sleep
✔ Eating enough protein and fiber each day
✔ Strength training to help maintain muscle and bone health
✔ Managing stress through prayer, mindfulness, or deep breathing
✔ Staying physically active with regular movement
✔ Working with a healthcare provider who listens to your concerns and looks at the whole picture

Every woman's experience is different.

Understanding what's happening inside your body is the first step toward making informed decisions about your health.

We believe in helping women better understand their bodies and supporting wellness through personalized, root-cause-focused care.

Your Health Is Influenced by More Than What You Eat

Most people think about nutrition, exercise, and sleep when they think about improving their health.

But there's another influence that often gets overlooked...

**The people you spend the most time with.**

Research has shown that our social connections can influence many aspects of our well-being. The people around us can affect our stress levels, daily habits, sleep patterns, food choices, physical activity, and even our outlook on life.

Ask yourself:

• Do the people around me encourage healthy choices?
• Do I leave conversations feeling encouraged or emotionally drained?
• Do I have people in my life who support my goals?
• Am I surrounded by kindness, encouragement, and hope?

This doesn't mean every relationship has to be perfect.

It simply means recognizing that our environment—including our relationships, can either help us move toward better health or make that journey more difficult.

Healthy living isn't just about what's on your plate.

It's also about who sits around your table.

At Abundant Health & Wellness Center, we believe true wellness looks at the whole person, body, mind, and the relationships that shape everyday life.

Sometimes one of the healthiest changes you can make isn't changing your diet.

It's spending more time with people who help you become the healthiest version of yourself.
