“I’ve been taking the GLP-1 shot, and now my hair is starting to thin.”
A woman walked up to me at a recent networking event and told me this.
She said, “I may be coming to see you.”
And I understood her concern.
When you’re finally seeing progress with your weight-loss goals, the last thing you expect is to look in the mirror and start worrying about your hair.
But if you begin noticing more shedding or thinning during significant weight loss, don’t immediately assume that you have to choose between your health goals and your hair.
Instead, start asking questions.
Has your nutrition changed?
Are you getting enough protein and nutrients?
Has your weight changed rapidly?
Are there other changes happening in your body?
And most importantly, don’t assume that every case of hair loss while taking a GLP-1 medication is caused directly by the medication.
Your hair can sometimes be one of the ways your body gets your attention.
That’s why I believe in looking beyond the surface.
If you’re losing weight and noticing changes in your hair, don’t wait until the thinning becomes severe before you start paying attention.
Start with understanding.
