Today, with full hearts and more than a few tears, we celebrate the retirement of Susan Breeden after 35+ years of dedicated service, leadership, and love poured into this organization. It is nearly impossible to put into words what Susan has meant to us—not only as our CEO, but as someone who has left a permanent mark on the hearts of so many.
Susan has been so much more than a leader. She has been a mother figure, a friend, a trusted sounding board, a source of comfort, and a steady voice of wisdom when it was needed most. She has led with grace, strength, compassion, and humility, and her kindness and generosity have touched more lives than she will ever know.
The legacy Susan leaves behind is one of love, service, courage, and unwavering dedication. We are better because of her, and this place will forever carry the imprint of her heart. While we are so happy for her as she begins this well-deserved next chapter, we will miss her more than words can say. Please join us in congratulating Susan Breeden on an incredible career and wishing her a retirement filled with joy, peace, rest, and all the happiness she has so freely given to others.

Today, we were honored to present the very first Susan Award to our own Susan Breeden.

Named in honor of Susan’s nearly 40 years of dedicated service to Baptist Memorial Hospital–Carroll County, the Susan Award will recognize team members who exemplify compassion, integrity, leadership, and a commitment to serving others…qualities Susan has modeled throughout her career.

As Susan prepares to retire later this week, it was only fitting that she become the inaugural recipient of an award that celebrates the lasting legacy she leaves behind.

Thank you, Susan, for your unwavering dedication to our patients, our team members, and our community. Your leadership has made a difference in countless lives, and your influence will continue through every future recipient of the Susan Award.

It’s HOT in Tennessee!

We’re under daily heat warnings, and the temperatures just keep climbing. At Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County, we want to remind you to take care of yourself and others during this extreme heat.

✅ Drink plenty of water
✅ Stay indoors during peak heat (10AM–4PM)
✅ Check on elderly neighbors
✅ Keep pets cool and safe
✅ Never leave anyone in a parked car, even for a minute

Watch for signs of heat exhaustion like dizziness, nausea, and excessive sweating, and don’t hesitate to seek medical help if needed.
