Poor posture doesn't happen overnight — and it doesn't get corrected in one session either, but massage can absolutely be part of the solution.

Years of sitting, screen time, and repetitive movement patterns create chronic tightness in some muscle groups and weakness or lengthening in others — think tight chest and hip flexors paired with weak, overstretched upper back and glutes. This imbalance is what pulls the body out of alignment over time.

Massage helps by releasing the chronically tight, shortened muscles that are pulling the skeleton out of its natural position. Working through the fascia and musculature — especially around the chest, shoulders, hips, and spine — can create the space needed for the body to start finding a more neutral, balanced posture again.

It's important to set expectations here: massage supports structural realignment, but it works best paired with strengthening exercises, awareness of daily habits, and sometimes complementary care. Think of it as loosening the ropes that are holding the body in a pattern, so real change has room to happen. 🧍‍♀️

The real work of a massage often starts once the nervous system lets go.

When a client shifts into a parasympathetic state — that "rest and digest" mode — you'll notice it: breathing slows and deepens, muscles soften beyond what pressure alone could achieve, and sometimes there's a sigh, a twitch, or even a moment where they drift off entirely. That's the body's way of saying it finally feels safe enough to release.

Ever hear a client sigh in one spot and tense up in another? That's information — and it's worth checking in on.

Bodies communicate in more than words. A sharp inhale, a held breath, a wince, a sound that's different from the rest of the session — these are cues that something in that specific area is registering differently, whether it's tenderness, release, or even an emotional response.

Checking in doesn't mean stopping the flow of the session. A simple "how does that feel?" or "want me to stay here or move on?" tells the client you're paying attention and gives them permission to speak up if something needs adjusting.

Not every sound means "stop" — sometimes it's relief, sometimes it's release. But the only way to know the difference is to ask.

Scapular articulation, moving the shoulder through it's full range of motion. Bringing the arm behind the body allows the scapula to move and helps to release tight muscles. It also allows for a work on the rhomboids which are a mid back muscle that can cause a lot of tightness. For people suffering from frozen shoulder or dealing with any sort of shoulder mobility issues this type of work and movement is incredibly beneficial. In this video we see a shoulder that moves fluidly and allows the arm to move comfrotably behind the body. This can open up tightness not just in the back but in the pec and chest as well.

Let's talk about the palm — one of the most overworked, underappreciated areas on the body

Between typing, texting, gripping, scrolling, and other daily use, the muscles of the palm carry a lot of tension that often goes unnoticed.

Working the palm with slow, deliberate thumb strokes or knuckle work can release a lot of tightness — and clients are often shocked at how much tenderness they're holding in a part of the body they never think to mention. It's also a great area to address for anyone with repetitive grip patterns: musicians, gardeners, gym-goers, or anyone glued to their phone.

A few extra minutes here can make the whole hand — and even the forearm — feel lighter. Don't skip the palms.

Don't skip the arms just because the client is face-down 💪

Working the arms in prone position is one of those techniques that gets overlooked, but it makes a real difference — especially for clients who type, lift, or grip all day.

With the arm gently draped off the table or repositioned at the client's side, you get clean access to the triceps, forearm flexors and extensors, and even into the hands. It's a great way to address overuse patterns from repetitive movement without asking the client to flip over.

Pro tip: check in on shoulder positioning first — a relaxed shoulder girdle makes the whole arm easier to work and keeps the client comfortable throughout.

Small adjustments, big impact. This is the kind of detail that separates a good massage from a great one. ✨

Not sure what to expect at your massage appointment? Let's set the record straight 👇

Communication is everything. Before we start, tell me about problem areas, pressure preferences, and what "success" looks like for you — more relaxation, or more pain relief? There's no wrong answer.

During the session, speak up. Pressure too light or too deep? Room too cold? Need more time on one area? This is your appointment — adjustments are always welcome, not an inconvenience.

And afterward, some soreness is normal (especially after deeper work), but you shouldn't feel worse days later. Drink water, move gently, and notice how your body feels over the next 24-48 hours.

The more you tell me, the better I can tailor your session. This is a partnership, not a guessing game.

Not sure whether to book 60 or 90 minutes? Here's the honest breakdown 👇

A 60-minute session is great when you want focused work on one or two problem areas — think neck and shoulders, or low back tension. It's efficient, targeted, and perfect for regular maintenance.

A 90-minute session gives us room to breathe. We can start with full-body relaxation, then really dig into your trouble spots without rushing, and still have time to address secondary areas you might not have mentioned. If you're dealing with chronic tension, training for something, or just need a full reset — this is where the magic happens.

The best part? Every session is customized. Tell me what you want to prioritize and we'll build the time around your needs, not the other way around. ✨
