Stress doesn’t show up the same way in any two people — and that’s what makes it so easy to miss. Let’s talk about your nervous system —
and why chiropractic may be part of supporting it.

Recovery hits a little differently after 40.

In our 20s, we could work out hard, sleep questionable hours 😂 and somehow wake up ready to do it all over again.

Now? Our bodies may need a little more intention.

And recovery DOESN’T have to mean expensive cold plunges, infrared saunas or fancy supplements.

Sometimes recovery looks like:

🚶‍♀️ Taking a walk instead of another hard workout
☀️ Getting outside and soaking up some morning sunlight
🧘‍♀️ 10 minutes of gentle mobility or stretching
🫁 Slow, deep breathing to help your body downshift
😴 Prioritizing consistent sleep
💧 Hydrating and actually fueling your body
🎾 Using a tennis or lacrosse ball on those tight muscles
🦵 Putting your legs up the wall for a few minutes
🌿 Gardening, reading or spending time outside
📵 Putting your phone away and letting your brain be quiet
❤️ Saying NO when your body and mind need a break
😂 Spending time with people who make you laugh

And sometimes recovery is choosing a lighter workout WITHOUT feeling guilty about it.

As women move through their 40s, 50s and beyond, we don’t necessarily need to stop moving.

We may just need to get better at balancing stress + movement + recovery.

Your body doesn’t have to feel 25.

It just deserves the tools to feel its best at the age you’re in. #

“Just rest” is advice that sounds simple but isn’t the whole picture. What actually helped me heal was gentle, consistent movement — short walks, easy stretching, and once I was cleared, gentle chiropractic care to help my body stop guarding and start trusting movement again.

This is the same philosophy I bring to every client, especially women navigating hormone shifts, postpartum recovery, or just feeling “off.” Gentle doesn’t mean ineffective. Sometimes it’s exactly what your nervous system needs.

Nine months ago I had a complete hysterectomy. I’m sharing this because I don’t think enough women talk about what recovery actually looks like — the good days and the hard ones.

This journey changed how I show up for my clients. I understand what it feels like when your body doesn’t feel like yours anymore. And I’ve learned firsthand how much gentle movement and nervous system support can help you find your way back to feeling like you again.

This is just the start of me sharing more of this side of my story. If you’ve been through something similar, I see you. 💛

This is my personal experience — always follow your own doctor’s guidance during recovery.

Move well. Recover well. Live well. People think exercise is about burning calories. Nope not me…

For me… it’s about taking care of the body I ask so much from every day.

As a chiropractor, I’m constantly moving, bending, lifting, and helping patients. If I don’t take care of my own body, I can’t show up as my best for theirs.

HOTWORX gives me more than a workout.

✔️ Strength and stability
✔️ Mobility and flexibility
✔️ Faster recovery after long days treating patients
✔️ Infrared heat that helps me relax tight muscles and leaves my skin feeling refreshed

No single workout is magic. The real magic comes from consistently moving your body, recovering well, and giving your nervous system opportunities to reset.

That’s exactly how I approach chiropractic care too. It’s never just about getting out of pain—it’s about helping your body move, function, and recover better so you can keep doing what you love.

Take a minute and let your head be fully supported. You might notice your neck softening, your shoulders dropping, or even your breathing slowing down.

Our bodies spend so much of the day holding us upright that we rarely give these muscles permission to completely relax.

The more you come back to this simple position, the more your body begins to recognize it as a place to unwind. It’s not about stretching harder—it’s about creating a little space for your nervous system to settle.

✨ Try it for 1–2 minutes today and simply notice what changes.

💛 Follow for simple movement that fits into real life.
📌 Save this for the days your neck and shoulders need a reset.

Healing isn’t always about doing more. ❤️

Nine months after my hysterectomy, I still experience occasional pelvic discomfort.

I’ve done the physical therapy.
I’ve exercised.
I’ve worked on my nutrition.
I’ve taken care of my body.

But one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that healing also means creating safety for your nervous system.

This supported child’s pose, combined with slow diaphragmatic breathing, can encourage your pelvic floor muscles to relax instead of constantly staying guarded.

✨ Breathe into your belly.
✨ Expand your ribs.
✨ Feel your breath reach your middle back.
✨ Let your jaw, shoulders, and pelvic floor soften together.

If you’ve been dealing with pelvic tension, pain, or pressure, know that you’re not alone. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is slow down long enough for our bodies to exhale.

As always, persistent pelvic pain deserves an evaluation by your healthcare provider or a pelvic floor physical therapist. This is simply one gentle strategy that has helped me.

Your body adapts to the story it lives.

Hours at a desk.
Driving.
Looking down at your phone.
Stress that never seems to let up.

Over time, your body begins to protect itself. The shoulders round forward, the chest becomes tight, the upper back gets weaker, and the head slowly drifts forward. Before long, your neck and shoulders are working overtime just to hold you upright.

These are two of my favorite exercises to help reverse that pattern.

✨ The band pass-through encourages shoulder mobility while opening the chest.
✨ The broom handle pulldown helps activate the muscles between your shoulder blades that support better posture and reduce unnecessary strain on your neck.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is people trying to “stand up straight.” Good posture isn’t about forcing your shoulders back all day—it’s about giving your body the strength and mobility so better posture becomes natural.

Because posture isn’t just a position.
It’s a pattern.

And patterns can change.

As a chiropractor, I don’t just adjust joints—I look at why your body is moving the way it is. Your posture, breathing, mobility, muscle balance, daily habits, stress levels, and nervous system all play a role in how you feel.

Sometimes the best treatment isn’t another stretch...
It’s helping your body remember how to move again.

In case anyone is wondering... yes, that’s a wooden stick I found in my garage 😄 and a simple resistance band. Nothing fancy! You can absolutely do these at home.

Have you noticed your shoulders creeping toward your ears by the end of the day? Or do you catch yourself looking down at your phone more than you’d like? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Does your hamstring always feel “tight”… no matter how much you stretch it? 👀
Sometimes it isn’t just the muscle.
Your sciatic nerve also needs to move and glide smoothly through the surrounding tissues. When it gets irritated or doesn’t move well, your body often responds by creating tension to protect the area.
This is one of my favorite gentle nerve flossing exercises because it combines:
✨ Deep breathing
✨ Spinal movement
✨ Hip mobility
✨ Sciatic nerve gliding
✨ Sacroiliac (SI) joint mobility
💨 Inhale: Let your spine gently arch and lift your chest.
💨 Exhale: Round through your spine as you rotate your hip outward, pointing your toes toward the ceiling.
And yes… you’ll notice my foot doesn’t rotate very far. 😅 That’s real life! Mobility is a journey, not a competition. Every body has different restrictions, and consistency matters far more than forcing the movement.
⚠️ This exercise shouldn’t create sharp, shooting, or worsening nerve pain. It should feel like a gentle glide, not an aggressive stretch.
💬 Have you ever dealt with sciatica, buttock pain, or a hamstring that always feels tight? Let me know in the comments!
📲 Save this reel to try later, share it with someone whose sciatic nerve could use a little love, and if you’re in the Huntington Beach area and want help figuring out why you’re tight, send me a DM. I’d love to help your body move a little easier.
