Curious about what your labs might tell you?

Lab testing can provide useful insight into different areas of your health, even when you aren't necessarily looking for a comprehensive Functional Medicine evaluation.

Redefine Health and Wellness now provides access to predefined lab panels through Fullscript Journeys, with options focused on functional health, women's and men's health, and cardiometabolic health.

After completing your selected testing, your results and recommendations are reviewed by our provider before being made available to you through Fullscript.

This is a separate option from the individualized lab testing that may be recommended as part of Functional Medicine care at our clinic.

Every healthcare decision starts with understanding the full picture.

In a Functional Medicine evaluation, recommendations are based on your health history, symptoms, and individual goals, not assumptions.

Some patients have enough information available to begin a treatment plan during their first visit. Others may benefit from additional evaluation before long-term recommendations are made.

Every step has a purpose. As new information becomes available, recommendations can be refined to better reflect your individual health needs.

Understanding what to expect can help you feel more informed and confident throughout your care.

Many people think of gut health only in terms of digestion, but it may influence much more than that.

Persistent symptoms like bloating, constipation, food sensitivities, fatigue, or brain fog aren't always something to ignore or simply "live with." Looking at the bigger picture can sometimes provide valuable insight into what's contributing to how you feel.

At Redefine Health and Wellness, our Functional Medicine approach considers factors such as digestion, nutrition, lifestyle, stress, inflammation, and the gut microbiome as part of a personalized evaluation.

Understanding your gut health isn't about finding a quick fix, it's about understanding how different systems in your body work together to support long-term wellness.

Many women notice changes during their 40s and wonder:
"Is this stress... or could it be perimenopause?"

The answer isn't always straightforward.

Stress and changing hormone levels can affect many of the same systems in the body, including sleep, energy, mood, and concentration. That's one reason why symptoms can sometimes be difficult to interpret.

Rather than focusing on one symptom alone, looking at when symptoms occur, how they've changed over time, and what else may be happening in your life can often provide more meaningful insight.

Explore why stress and perimenopause can overlap, why symptoms may change throughout the menopausal transition, and why understanding the bigger picture is often more helpful than looking for a single explanation.

Have you ever noticed that an old injury never quite feels the way it used to?

Many people assume that once pain improves, recovery is complete. In reality, healing often continues long after the most noticeable symptoms have improved. Strength, mobility, stability, and confidence in movement don't always return on the same timeline.

Recovery is also influenced by more than the injury itself. Factors like sleep, nutrition, physical activity, stress, previous injuries, and overall health all play a role in how the body adapts over time.

That's one reason two people with similar injuries may have very different recovery experiences, and why an injury can feel different even after significant healing has taken place.

In our latest educational article, we explore:
• Why healing and recovery aren't always the same thing
• Why different tissues recover differently
• Why symptoms can sometimes return after an injury
• When lingering symptoms may deserve another evaluation

Meet Cassandra Tom, FNP-C, FMACP.

Cassandra is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner whose background includes emergency medicine, regenerative medicine, hormone health, metabolic wellness, and functional medicine.

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked as a registered nurse in the emergency department, caring for patients in fast-paced clinical settings. She later gained experience in regenerative medicine through her work at a pain management center, where she also trained medical professionals in therapies including PRP, stem cell therapy, and trigger point injection therapy.

Today, her approach combines clinical experience with a functional and integrative perspective that focuses on understanding the factors that may influence overall health rather than viewing symptoms in isolation.

Joint discomfort is often blamed on getting older or being more active, but that's not always the full picture.

Hormones help regulate much more than reproductive health. They also play a role in processes involving sleep, recovery, inflammation, metabolism, and muscle maintenance. When these systems overlap, some people notice changes in stiffness, soreness, or how their body recovers from everyday activity.

That doesn't mean hormones are always the cause of joint pain. Persistent joint discomfort can have many possible contributors. But understanding how these systems work together may provide a broader perspective on why symptoms sometimes occur at the same time.

Explore the connection between hormonal changes, recovery, inflammation, and physical resilience, and why looking at the whole picture can be valuable.

Have you ever wondered why two women with nearly identical symptoms can receive completely different evaluations?

Fatigue, brain fog, weight changes, poor sleep, and mood changes are often associated with hormones, but symptoms alone don't always tell the full story.

One person's symptoms may be influenced primarily by hormonal changes. For someone else, stress history, metabolism, inflammation, digestive health, or other factors may also be important pieces of the picture.

That's why personalized care isn't about matching a treatment to a symptom, it's about understanding what may be contributing to *your* symptoms.

Our latest blog explores why similar symptoms don't always have the same underlying cause and why individualized evaluations matter.

Many women expect menopause to begin with hot flashes, but hormonal changes often start much earlier.

During perimenopause, changing hormone levels may gradually affect sleep, energy, mood, recovery, metabolism, and cognitive clarity. Because these changes often develop over time, it's not always obvious that hormones may be playing a role.

Understanding what's happening during this stage of life can help you make more informed decisions about your health and wellness.

Explore:
• The difference between perimenopause and menopause
• Common hormonal changes women may experience
• Why symptoms can vary from person to person
• When it may be appropriate to seek additional support

Why do some symptoms seem to come and go without a clear explanation?

Many people experience fluctuations in energy, sleep, digestion, focus, recovery, or body temperature that do not follow a perfectly predictable pattern. Some days may feel manageable, while others feel significantly more difficult.

In many cases, symptoms are influenced by multiple interconnected factors such as sleep quality, stress, hormones, metabolism, nutrition, activity levels, and recovery.

That is one reason why patterns can sometimes provide more insight than isolated symptoms alone.

Understanding when symptoms occur, how they fluctuate over time, and what factors may be associated with them can help support more informed conversations about health and wellness.

Explore why fluctuating symptoms are more common than many people realize and why paying attention to patterns may matter.
