Every child deserves a safe place to sleep. I'm excited to announce our very first Suffolk County Bed Build on June 19 in Farmingville.🎉🔨 As a pediatric nurse practitioner, I've seen firsthand how important quality sleep is to a child's physical, emotional, and mental well-being. That's why I am honored to bring Sleep in Heavenly Peace's mission to Suffolk County.

According to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an estimated 2-3% of children in the United States do not have a bed of their own. No child should have to sleep on the floor. 😔🛏️

This National Nurses Week, I want to take a moment to recognize and thank all of the incredible nurses who care for others with compassion, patience, strength, and heart every single day. Nursing is so much more than a profession. It’s being there for families during difficult moments, offering comfort when it’s needed most, and advocating for patients every step of the way. Ask Mariel: What’s the difference between PANS and PANDAS?
Both conditions can cause sudden changes in a child’s behavior, mood, or neurological function, often including anxiety, OCD behaviors, or emotional shifts. The key difference is the trigger. PANDAS is linked specifically to strep infections, while PANS may be triggered by other infections or immune system stressors.

Identifying the underlying cause is an important step in helping children recover and regain balance. If you’re noticing sudden behavioral changes in your child, let’s get to the root of the problem.
