What a special day for North Huntsville! 💚✂️

Community leaders, neighbors, Alabama A&M representatives and members of the HH Health team gathered on Meridian Street to celebrate the opening of HH Physician Care North Huntsville, which will begin welcoming patients this coming Monday, June 15.

This ribbon cutting marked more than the opening of a new clinic. It represents a shared commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare close to home for the people of North Huntsville.

Join us in celebrating Ciara Wine, RN, who was just honored with a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses! 💮🏆👏

Ciara was nominated by a patient – who also happens to be a former hospital manager – after an exceptional five-day stay in our Cardiology III Unit. This particular patient knows firsthand the immense demands placed on healthcare workers, making their glowing praise for Ciara all the more meaningful.

"Ciara’s knowledge and professionalism are truly top-notch ... I could literally feel my anxiety leave when she walked into the room,” the patient shared. “She told me she wants her patients to be as comfortable as possible — and unlike many who simply say those words, she truly lives by them."

Not only did Ciara go the extra mile by constantly checking in, adjusting pain management plans, and bringing true comfort to a vulnerable moment, but she was also recognized for being an incredible mentor to a younger nurse on the unit.

"The way she explained processes and demonstrated best practices showed true leadership," the patient added. "In all my hospital experiences, I have never felt so supported, understood and cared for."

Ciara, thank you for living Huntsville Hospital's mission every single day and for being a superstar caregiver and teacher.

Drop a ❤️ or a comment below to congratulate Ciara on her DAISY Award!

We’re celebrating a century of care at our current location! 🎉🏥

One hundred years ago this week (on June 8, 1926), Huntsville Hospital officially opened its doors. But did you know how different things looked back then?

Before 1926, the only medical facility in town was the ramshackle Huntsville Infirmary — which opened in 1895 and operated out of a former brothel on St. Clair Avenue.

The new three-story brick hospital on Madison Street featured 50 beds, a single operating room, and one of the very first electric elevators in town. (The original entrance was right about where our cafeteria patio sits today.)

Nurses received free room and board upstairs, with meals and laundry included.

The Chamber of Commerce led the push to build the hospital and set an ambitious goal to raise $200,000 (equivalent to about $3.7 million today). đź’µ

While the fundraising goal fell a bit short, supporters pressed ahead anyway, breaking ground in July 1925 on a two-acre site donated by Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Rhett Sr. 🔨🪚

From day one, Huntsville Hospital was defined by heart. Early archives note an “intimate, friendly attitude of mutual respect” among the staff, adding that "all who passed through its doors felt as much at home there as in their own homes."

A lot has changed in 100 years, but our commitment to the Tennessee Valley remains the same. đź’š

We are proud to announce that Huntsville Hospital’s Cancer Program has been officially re-accredited through 2029 by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer.

What does this mean for our community? It means that when you or a loved one walks through our doors, you are receiving care that meets the highest national standards, utilizes a multidisciplinary approach, and follows the very latest evidence-based treatment guidelines.

This isn’t just a recent achievement — it’s a tradition. Our Cancer Program holds the distinction of being continuously accredited since June 1991.

Maintaining our accreditation for 35 years is a testament to a team that refuses to settle for anything less than the best for our cancer patients. Join us in celebrating this amazing achievement and thanking the team members who make Huntsville Hospital a beacon of hope and healing every single day! ❤️

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Claire B. Cummins to Tennessee Valley Pediatric Surgery!

Dr. Cummins knew she wanted to pursue medicine at a young age after spending time in the hospital with her father during his battle with cancer. That experience sparked a passion for caring for others that continues to guide her today.

She is dedicated to providing exceptional surgical care for children and was drawn to Huntsville Hospital because of its strong culture of teamwork and commitment to patient care.

When she's not caring for patients, Dr. Cummins enjoys reading fantasy novels, playing board games and piano, gardening and hiking with her dogs.

Welcome to Huntsville, Dr. Cummins! 👏

A century ago this week on June 8, 1926, Huntsville Hospital officially opened its doors. Just three days later, we welcomed our very first maternity patient — and a true Huntsville legend was born. 👶

Meet Israel Bernard “Buddy” Miller, the inspiration behind our "100 Years of Babies" celebration happening this Saturday at The Orion Amphitheater.

According to family lore, Buddy’s mother, Elsie, was in the middle of a winning streak at a neighborhood poker game on June 11, 1926, when her contractions started. Not wanting to leave the card table, she played until the last minute before being rushed by ambulance to the brand-new hospital on Madison Street.

Buddy went on to live an incredible 91 years. He was a high school valedictorian, a dedicated civic leader, president of Temple B’nai Sholom, and a successful businessman. He and his wife Dolores raised three children — all born right here at Huntsville Hospital!

From a single baby boy delivered after a lucky hand of cards, a century-long legacy was born. Since Buddy’s historic arrival, Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children and Madison Hospital have welcomed nearly 360,000 babies into the world! 🌎🏥❤️
