Healthy hearing is so important to staying connected to people. Even if you are a lone wolf, you still want to hear what your doctor is telling you, or what James Spann is telling you on TV during bad weather. 😀 It keeps you connected to your world. And we, as humans, are built for that connection.

**As an Alum of Gallaudet and a pediatric audiologist, I must also acknowledge that many people do not use hearing for communication. Our Deaf/HoH friends may use sign language, augmentative communication, cued speech, or any number of other ways to stay connected. 🥰

This is a well written article describing some of what is going on in hearing healthcare. Long story short, the insurance companies and hearing aid manufacturers are working together to sell you a hearing aid over the Internet out in the retail stores they own. Quantity over quality.

On a weekly basis, I have patients come in who have purchased over the counter hearing devices or cheaper retail devices and they are not happy with them. It is obvious these devices have been taken off a shelf and only programmed to a basic setting. In fact, I will measure the output of those devices and find that many sounds are not loud enough to be audible. This means you are “underfit” and your brain isn’t getting the sounds it needs to stay strong.

I’m not an earbud dealer. I’m a licensed professional who will help you keep your ears and brain healthy over the long term.
