Boy did I make a lot of mistakes while raising my 4 kids !!! Still making plenty as I walk alongside them as they transition into full-on adulthood!
This is my oldest; she's seen some things, LOL! But hopefully she's seen a woman who works on herself - inside and out - and aims to show up WELL for herself and her family. And when she stumbles, she picks herself up, apologizes as needed, and seeks to make adjustments and course corrections along the way.
Some of the ways I try to model healthy self-care, growth, and renewal to her:
1. Eating and enjoying healthy, whole foods as the norm. And - I don't complain or bemoan how I "can't" eat junk food or garbage, as if I'm missing out by eating the foods the good Lord has provided.
2. Reading and learning, challenging my thoughts and opinions, and expanding my world/knowledge is a priority. Only listening to voices in a vaccuum will simply lead to hearing what you already "know" from them, not what is necessarily true or helpful. And there is always more to learn and reassess, too!
3. Moving and exercising is enjoyable and just as important for the mind and spirit as it is the body. I don't "have" to do it - I GET TO. And what a blessing it is to be able to physically move and get stronger!
What is ONE way you've tried to model healthy self-care and growth to your kids/grands? I'd love to hear and be challenged by you!
