A Milestone in Care at Hutchinson Health

We recently cared for our first Mobile ECMO patient—a remarkable achievement that reflects the skill, preparation and teamwork of our caregivers.

Mobile ECMO is a highly specialized form of life support that requires extensive training, coordination and clinical expertise. This milestone brought together an extraordinary team, including three generations of caregivers, working side by side to provide life-saving care.

As Emergency Department Manager Kristen Heinonen shared:

"Successfully caring for our first Mobile ECMO patient was incredible to witness. Watching three generations of caregivers work together to provide life-saving care was truly inspiring. If our patients knew the countless hours of training, preparation, teamwork and dedication that go into moments like these, they would be amazed. I know I am. We have an exceptional team."

A special thank you to Dr. Lutz and the multidisciplinary team whose dedication, expertise and collaboration made this level of care possible.
