When a loved one experiences a life-changing medical event, the uncertainty of what comes next can be overwhelming. For one family, the Inpatient Rehabilitation team at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center helped turn that uncertainty into hope and confidence.
After suffering a stroke and undergoing a thrombectomy in Wichita, a patient was transferred to our Inpatient Rehabilitation unit to begin recovery. Within the first hour, speech, physical and occupational therapists were at the bedside completing evaluations and developing an individualized rehabilitation plan, providing much-needed reassurance to the patient and family.
Throughout the nearly three-week stay, the family was especially grateful for the team’s positive attitude, professionalism, encouragement and organization. From admission through discharge planning, their care and support never wavered.
Today, the patient continues to recover and make progress, while the family left feeling hopeful and better prepared for the journey ahead.
For providing exceptional rehabilitation care while bringing reassurance, compassion, and hope during an uncertain time, we are proud to recognize our Inpatient Rehabilitation team with a Mission Moment Award. Their dedication is a reminder that recovery is about more than physical progress. It is also about restoring confidence and helping patients and families feel supported every step of the way.
