Looking for a boost of hydration as the seasons change? Some toners can dry out your skin. At Mountain West Dermatology, we have toners that will help soften and hydrate your skin as you move into the winter weather.

How much sunscreen is enough to protect you? More than you think.

Most people do not use the proper amount of sunscreen. Average sized adults and children need at least one ounce (think shot glass) to evenly cover your entire body, head to toe. If you spend a significant amount of time in the sun, a 16 oz. bottle won't last very long. If you are still using a bottle from last year, you may not be using enough.

Sunscreen doesn't last forever. The sun-protecting chemicals break down over time. Check the expiration date to make sure your sunscreen will still be effective. Sunscreen also degrades faster when exposed to prolonged heat. Hot cars and prolonged direct sunlight are not good for sunscreen. When outside, keep it in the shade or wrap in a towel to keep it at peak effectiveness.

Remember to apply and wait 15 minutes for maximum protection.
