If there were one word to describe this weekend’s Cacao Drum Birthing Ceremony, it would be gratitude. 🤎

I am so grateful I had the opportunity to sit in this beautiful space with such beautiful spirits, each person bringing something uniquely their own.

Some carried a grounded presence that helped anchor the space. Some brought humor and laughter that had all of us smiling. Others carried a more serious presence, but still found moments to soften, let go, laugh, and have fun. Every personality, every energy, every spirit added something special to the experience.

From sharing cacao together, to slowing down and connecting inward, to working with our hands and pouring intention into the creation of each drum, and finally closing our time together in a drum circle—it was nothing short of incredible.

There were quiet moments. Deep moments. Hilarious moments. Moments of concentration, connection, laughter, and maybe a little worry about whether we were doing it right. 😂

And in the end, six completely unique drums were born by six completely unique people. Each one somehow carried the personality and spirit of the person who created it.

Our newly birthed drums needed time to rest and dry before their voices could be heard, so we closed our ceremony by gathering in rhythm with drums I brought for us to share. There was something beautiful about ending that way—together, laughing, connecting, and finding our rhythm as a group.

Thank you for showing up exactly as you are. Thank you for bringing your energy, your personalities, your laughter, and your hearts into this space.

Most of all, thank you for trusting me.

I am so incredibly grateful for this opportunity. 🥁🤎🌿

In a matter of hours, seven beautiful souls will gather in sacred space to reconnect with something ancient. 🌿

Together, we will slow down, return to the Earth, and honor the wisdom and traditions carried through generations before us.

With gratitude for the animal, the tree, and Mother Earth, we will transform these sacred materials with our own hands—birthing a drum through ceremony, intention, prayer, and deep connection.

A drum that will carry their energy.
Their intention.
Their story.
Their heartbeat. 🪶🤎

There is something incredibly powerful about creating with our hands in the same way humans have for thousands of years.

Today, we remember.
Today, we create.
Today, seven drums are born. 🥁🌿

You've been taught the mind and body are separate. They're not.

We talk about them like they're two completely different things.

Mental health over here.
Physical health over there.
Emotions somewhere in the middle causing chaos. 😂

But your body doesn't really work that way.

Think about it...

Get nervous and your stomach can flip.

Hear terrible news and your chest can physically ache.

Walk into a room where you don't feel safe and your shoulders tense before you've even consciously decided something feels off.

Hear a song you haven't heard in 20 years and suddenly you have goosebumps, a lump in your throat, and you're standing in a memory you thought you'd forgotten.

That's not "all in your head."

That's your whole system responding.

Your brain and body are constantly communicating through your nervous system, hormones, sensory information, breathing, heart rate and countless other processes happening every second.

And SOUND is sensory information too.

Your ears aren't simply hearing a singing bowl, drum, gong or chime and going, "Oh, that's pretty."

Your brain is processing rhythm, frequency, volume, repetition and vibration while your body is responding to the experience.

This is one of the reasons I'm so fascinated by sound.

Not because I think a singing bowl is some magical cure-all.

But because we're beginning to understand scientifically what humans have intuitively known for a very long time:

What we hear matters.

What we feel matters.

Our environment matters.

Our breath matters.

Our sense of safety matters.

And when you intentionally create an environment where the lights are low, the phone is put away, the body gets comfortable, the breath begins to slow and you're surrounded by steady, soothing sound...

you're giving your system something very different to respond to than the constant noise, notifications, deadlines and GO-GO-GO of everyday life.

That's what I love about sound therapy.

Sometimes we're so busy trying to THINK our way into feeling better that we forget we're living inside a body that deserves to be part of the conversation too.

Thích Nhất Hạnh taught about interbeing—the idea that nothing exists entirely on its own.

I think that's such a beautiful lens through which to look at ourselves, too.

Mind. Body. Breath. Environment. Sound. Emotion.

Not separate little pieces.

A conversation.

And sometimes changing just one part of that conversation can change the way the whole moment feels. 🤎

“When you touch one thing with deep awareness, you touch everything.”

I love tiny moments like these—where I get to be curious, play with what the earth gives us, and just be completely me. 🌿

If you’ve been eaten alive by mosquitoes lately and you’re looking for a simple, natural way to calm the itch… watch the video. 🦟✨

Bentonite clay comes from the earth, formed over incredibly long periods of time as volcanic ash weathers and changes into mineral-rich clay. There’s something kind of beautiful about that—something ancient, created by the earth, still finding its way into our homes and little everyday rituals.

It’s actually one of the ingredients I use in my Ancient Bath Detox. 🤎

For my mosquito bites, I mixed a little bentonite clay with water until it made a thick, earthy paste, rubbed it onto my skin, let it dry…

…and the itching stopped. 🙌

No complicated ritual. No fancy ingredients.

Just clay. Water. Earth. 🌿

I think this is one of the reasons I’m so drawn to natural living—not because everything natural is automatically better, but because I love learning about the plants, minerals, sounds, and elements that have been here long before us.

There’s so much to be curious about when we remember to look down, touch the earth, and pay attention. 🤎✨

I am always working to improve my skills and provide the most relaxing experience for my clients.

I recently began a new sound healing course (which I'm loving!) and in it, the teacher discusses a quote that says, "sound is the medicine of the past". She added that it will also be the medicine of the future.

I've experienced, first hand, the incredible benefits of sound and that's a big reason why I'm here doing what I'm doing.

I was stuck in fight or flight for years after experiencing trauma. Sound helped me reconnect to my body. It moved through me and with me.

For me, it isn't about simply believing in a mind/body connection, it's an inner knowing reinforced by experience.

My journey started with a beautiful handcrafted Buffalo medicine drum, birthed on 8.8 – the Lions Gate Portal.

Sound is for the mind, body, and soul. If you've been feeling disconnected, join me on an upcoming sound bath.

Some people get excited about new shoes.
I get excited when a 7-foot box of buffalo hide shows up at my door. 😂🥁🤎

🌸 You wouldn't expect a flower to bloom in the desert.

Nature doesn't ask life to flourish where it cannot be nourished.

Yet so many of us expect that of ourselves.

We stay in environments that leave us depleted, disconnected, and exhausted, then wonder why we aren't thriving.

The truth is, maybe you don't need to become someone else.

Maybe you simply need an environment that allows you to become more of who you already are.

Sometimes growth begins with changing the soil—not the seed.

At Drummer Girl, my intention is to create that kind of space.

A place where your nervous system can soften.
A place where you can breathe a little deeper.
A place where there is nothing to prove, nothing to fix, and nowhere else you need to be.

Whether you join a sound bath, a drum circle, or a drum birthing ceremony, you are welcome exactly as you are.

🌿 Sometimes all we need is the right environment to remember how to bloom.
