🌞 Summer Safety Starts with Hydration! 💧

Hot weather can be especially dangerous for older adults. As we age, we don't feel thirsty as quickly, and some medications can increase the risk of dehydration.

Help your loved ones stay safe by:
💦 Encouraging water before they feel thirsty
🍉 Offering hydrating foods like watermelon, cucumbers, berries, and tomatoes
🥗 Serving light, nutritious meals
🏠 Keeping the home cool and limiting outdoor activities during peak heat
👀 Watching for warning signs like confusion, dizziness, dry mouth, dark urine, or headaches

⚠️ Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If someone has a temperature above 103°F, confusion, hot dry skin, slurred speech, or loses consciousness, call 911 immediately.

A few simple habits—offering a glass of water, checking in regularly, or preparing a healthy meal—can help seniors stay safe, healthy, and independent all summer long. ❤️
