The Southcentral Foundation Nilavena Subregional Clinic serves seven communities within the Lake and Peninsula Borough, located 250 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska. The Nilavena Subregional Clinic was a project that started in 1999, beginning when the villages of Iliamna, Newhalen, Nondalton, Kokhonak, and Pedro Bay came together and recognized the need for a higher level of health care. The Nilavena Subregional Clinic is funded by a federal grant through Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) to provide medical services. Southcentral Foundation has managed the 330(e) HRSA Community Health Center grant since 2002 and the provision of primary care services at the Nilavena Clinic. Discounts are offered depending upon both household income and size. A discount fee schedule is used to calculate the basic discount and is updated each year. A completed annual application including required documentation of the home address, household income and insurance coverage must be on file and be approved before a discount will be granted. The Nilavena Subregional Clinic is Community Health Care Center designated. No customer will be denied services due to race, cultural affiliation, or inability to pay. The clinic is open Monday – Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed for lunch hour)
