Ramadan mubarak to all the Muslims! We made it to another blessed month. I know this month can be hard for some and even admitting that feels wrong. You're supposed to be excited, right? Wrong. You're supposed to be present to your feelings, whatever they are, and willing to enter into the month with pure intentions. That's all. Everyone's iman ebbs and flows. The goal is to be grateful when it is high and patient when it is low. May you find continued mercy and ease this month and every month.

Save your precious resources for people who matter, people who care, people who are willing to update their thinking when presented with new information.

So many passionate people get sacked into draining debates with those who are woefully misinformed and committed to disinformation. Disengage. You're just spinning your wheels.

There is no one on this app that can extinguish that fire in your chest. That feeling, that burn, that disgust, you're supposed to feel that. May we always be moved to action and tears, a most powerful and humane duo. We cannot relax and regulate it away.

We are witnessing the spread and continuation of state sanctioned violence that has always marred this land. It is not new, but it is being broadcast live in 4k, and it is impacting more white people, which is surprising for many.

But in the words of James Baldwin, "If I am starving, you are in danger." There truly is no security for anyone until there is security for everyone.

To the new moms, the millennial and gen Z moms who are working to break dysfunctional patterns, I see you. I see you reading, learning, breathing, healing, thinking, planning, apologizing.

I see you standing on business when others don't get your methods, when they think you're spoiling your kids. I see you going to therapy to unpack and unlearn. I see you listening to podcasts and journaling to reflect.

You're making such big changes, not only in your kids' lives but also to the lives of future generations who will be better prepared, better resourced because of the work you're putting in today.

Put some respect on your name. You're doing big work, mama!

Can we hold two things to be true? That political violence is wrong and Charlie Kirk should not have been (k) illed. Period. And also, there is no required grief for a person who consistently trafficked in harmful speech. Consistently said racist, homophobic, xenophobic, incidinary and sensational claims that were often untrue and misleading.

Grief requires an attachment first. It is hard to attach to those who refuse to acknowledge your value.

I've been privileged to have amazing men in my life. Here's two of them: my dad and my younger bro. Love them to life. I can't overstate the positive impact of being surrounded by safe men.

It allows you to truly relax. No need to constantly assess for threat, constantly be on guard. The relationships I have with these men (and my older bro too) directly impacts the work I do with male clients today. I'm able to assume the best and hold space for them because men have done the same for me.

I love that I get to be involved in the process of helping men become safe (physically and emotionally) for their loved ones. Incredibly rewarding work. I love it here.

It's easy to feel broken when the things that "should" be easy aren't. It's not a sign of brokenness. It's a sign of survival. Spend no time shaming yourself or beating yourself up. Spend all the time slowing down and learning new adaptations.

Healing is a lifelong journey that should never be confined to one small area of life. We often think of healing in terms of how we feel. "I feel better = healed."
I get it, but it's shortsighted. Let's expand beyond that. Are you healing how you eat, how you move your body? Are you healing how you show up in your community, with your friends and family? There's so much more to consider.
