There are several great community events happening today!

In Indiana, it's the Aging Services, Inc.'s Brain Health Fair. We will be joining other community service organizations to share information on brain health and more specifically for us, mental wellness.

In DuBois, it's the Sr. Expo, hosted by Sen. Langerholc and Rep. Armanini. Here, we will join other community agencies to share mental health information with our senior population.

We hope to see you later this morning at the Indiana Mall or the DuBois Mall, starting at 10 am!

Self-Compassion and Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence encapsulates the way we treat ourselves.

Speak to yourself the way you would speak to someone else.

Kindness inward matters just as much as kindness outward.

Compassionate care begins with the very first conversation.

We are so grateful for feedback like this:
“Intake person was amazing with the children.”

Creating a welcoming, supportive, and trauma-sensitive experience for children and families is at the heart of what we do. Thank you for trusting us to walk alongside your family on your journey.

Make plans to stop by the Indiana Mall this Thursday for the Brain Health Fair. So many great resources will be there to answer questions and provide information.

We can’t wait to see you!

As May nears its end, it's important to prioritize mental health and promote awareness year-round, not just during specific events or months.

By making mental health a regular part of our conversations and taking care of ourselves and others, we can help reduce stigma and support those who may be struggling.

Sounds like a good plan to us!
More good days. Together.

It is well known that there is a strong connection between the body and mind. Research indicates that spending time outside has significant positive effects on physical well-being, which can in turn lead to improved mental health outcomes for both children and adults.

The physiological changes that can have a profound impact on the emotional states of both children and adults include reduced cortisol levels, lowered blood pressure and heart rate, increased vitamin D, improved sleep quality and duration, increased overall well-being, improved cognition and creativity, reduced rumination, and improved relationships.

The key takeaway here is that spending time in outdoor spaces can have a positive impact on mental health, so it's important to make the most of whatever outdoor space is available to you.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we can say we made it a fun month!
From wearing our green and CGC gear to joining our teammates for a pizza lunch, we concluded the month-long celebration with a prize giveaway (30+ prizes, actually)!

While all of our staff are winners, we'd like to congratulate our prize winners:
Greta, Jillian, Alexis, Abbi, Ale, Gerret, Penny, Haley, Britany, Jessica, Wendy, Charlane, Mark, Michelle, Riley, Alyssa, Bracie, Allison, Laura, Tina, Melissa, Wendy, Beth, Joel, Heather, Tiffany, Julie, Jonathan, Caelia, Missy, and Frankie.

Awareness may have a designated month, but caring for mental health is a year-round commitment. Together, we can continue to reduce stigma, encourage hope, and remind one another that no one has to walk through difficult times alone.

It's National Hamburger Day! In that spirit, our Coping Skills Burger is a recipe to help you keep things that calm you down in periods of distress. If you have the ingredients on hand, it’s easier to remember to reference your coping skills burger recipe rather than experience the unpleasantness related to the distress.

-- Soothe through our Senses
Find comfort through our five senses (see, hear, touch, taste, smell)
-- Distract our Mind
Find an alternative activity to take our mind off of the distress
-- Focus on an Opposite Action
Do something opposite of our impulse that reflects positivity
-- Discover Emotional Awareness
Find ways to identify and express our emotions
-- Create a Mindfulness Plan
Find ways to center ourselves and feel grounded in the present
-- Develop a Crisis Plan
Create a list of resources and supports if we need additional help

What does your Coping Skills Burger look like? Tell us in the comments!
