Ten years ago, Recovery Centers of America opened its very first addiction treatment center right here in Mays Landing, NJ. 💙

Becky Baillie, CEO of RCA at Lighthouse, joined Ken Rosato on ONNJ Mornings to talk about the milestone and what it takes to help more South Jersey families get care.

Her message: “It’s not a personal moral issue; it truly is a disease.” RCA at Lighthouse has grown from 53 beds to 133. The team keeps finding ways to make it easier to say yes to treatment, from welcoming pets to specialized programming for professionals and students.

If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, call 833-30-RECOVERY (833-307-3268).

Do you find yourself in the same cycle?

You try to stop.
You get a few days in.
Then something happens and you're right back where you started.

It's not a character flaw.
It's what addiction does.

Here's what we know after treating thousands of people:

You don't have to figure out how to break the cycle on your own.

You just have to let someone help you.

At Recovery Centers of America, that's exactly what we do.

You focus on getting better.
We take care of everything else.

You will be okay. You will be safe.
And you don't have to do this alone.

Kratom is sold as “all natural.” So why are people going through withdrawal when they stop? 🌿

Karen Wolownik Albert, CEO of RCA at St. Charles, joined Fox 32 Chicago and reporterKasey Chronis to talk about kratom addiction and what Illinois families should know.

Regular kratom use can build tolerance. Stopping can bring pain, nausea, sweats, low energy, and flu-like symptoms. And with Naperville now banning kratom sales, more families are asking what to do next.

Parents, kratom’s wellness marketing can reach teens easily. Learn what it is, and talk with your kids about the risks.

If you or someone you love is struggling with kratom withdrawal or dependence, call 833-30-RECOVERY (833-307-3268) for a confidential screening.

A decade of addiction treatment at RCA at Bracebridge Hall, and the incredible story behind it. 📰

RCA at Bracebridge Hall opened in October 2016 with 39 beds. Since then it has grown to 123 beds, added outpatient and telehealth care, launched access-first policies like FastTrack admissions and priority care for pregnant patients, and become home to RESCU, our treatment program for military, veterans, and first responders.

"For the past 10 years, RCA at Bracebridge Hall has been a place for individuals and families to find hope, healing, and a path forward." — Blythe Maynard, CEO

Why does small talk feel so draining for some people? 🧠

Dr. Peter Vernig, VP of Mental Health Services at RCA, broke down the psychology of small talk for Parade. When we don't feel connected or heard, the brain misses out on the dopamine reward that comes with real connection. For introverts with "a finite social battery," chit-chat can feel like a poor use of energy.

Meaningful conversations, on the other hand, release oxytocin, which is linked to connection and long-term mental well-being.

His tip for your next awkward party moment: when it's appropriate, it's OK to let someone know you're short on time.

Waiting for rock bottom might be the worst advice in recovery.

There's this idea that you have to lose everything first.

Your job.
Your family.
Your health.

Before you're "allowed" to ask for help.

That's not true.

It's a myth that keeps people sick longer than they need to be.

You don't have to wait for a crisis to deserve support.

You can choose to get help today, exactly as you are.

Recovery Centers of America is here when you're ready.
