This may surprise you but men are abuse victims too, they just don't tell anyone in most circumstances. Women can be just as abusve as men in all types I've talked about; physical, mental, verbal, emotional and financial.

So if you have a male friend and see this type of behavior by their wife or girlfriend speak up, be supportive and help him see it if he doesn't. But do not shame him or make him feel embarrassed because those are the main reasons a man doesn't speak up.

As domestic violence awareness month comes to an end I wanted to touch on this not so talked about piece of the puzzle!

It takes two to save a relationship, you cannot do it alone!

Are you wanting to save your relationship but seem to be thr only one who cares? You need to ask the question to your partner or at least look at their actions to see if you already know the answer! Relationships can be saved however both parties have to be invested in the solution to make that happen.

It's not a one person job and if you try you'll only end up stressed and more upset with yourself for allowing it to go on longer than it should have.

Share with someone who needs to hear this. Save for yourself to come back to!

People pleasing is setting aside your own peace for someone elses. Please recognize this and find the strength to stop.๐Ÿ›‘

Pushing down your own feeling, choices, and opinions to keep a relationship isn't healthy and won't work long term. You are the one who loses in the end.๐Ÿ˜”

Share ๐Ÿ—ฃ and save so you can come back to it later!โœจ๏ธ

Peace of mind is priceless! Find some time to relax this weekend!

Having peace in your life doesn't mean you're giving up on what you want. ๐Ÿ•Š

A while back I saw or heard this quote "make peace with where you are". I liked it so much I wrote it on a post it note and it has lived on my desk. So I have seen it everyday while I work. And it has helped me find peace within even if nothing on the outside is showing up how I want. I still believe it will happen because I am still doing what I know to do for me. And in time those things I want to see transpire in my life will. They may look different than I imagine but if they're coming its always "this or something better!".

Patience is definitely key! โœจ๏ธ

We aren't meant to be constantly on the go. Our bodies and minds require rest and rejuvenation to function properly!

Our lives today are so busy with work, kids, activities and family duties, so when do you find a break? Do you take breaks? If you aren't I ask you to try to over the next week. Thirty minutes to an hour at least of quiet time. No phone, no TV...just you on the couch, the porch, on a walk letting your body and mind relax for a while. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿžโ˜€๏ธ

If you do this you'll be surprised how much better you're going to feel, then you'll be looking for the next slot in your busy schedule for more slow moments to yourself! Enjoy! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Don't let yourself make excuses for their bad treatment of you!!

We can be making excuses so we feel better about moving on and just sweeping the issues under the rug. Excuses like "oh they just had a bad day" or "they cant help it because of their past". No NO No!! Being treated badly whether its totally abusive or not isnt ok. No one deserves to be treated badly by their partner or anyone else you are close to.

Look at any of your relationship and think about how you may be making excuses on how they treat you.

PTSD example after leaving the abusive relationship.

Being around others arguing can trigger your body to go into a reactive mode even if you are not the one in the argument, you are a just an innocent bystander hearing it.
๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ—ฏ

The shouting and harsh words are the trigger because your body doesn't know that its not necessarily you that is being yelled or shouted at. It just reacts for protection.

If this has happened to you just be aware and try to remove yourself from the area. If that isn't possible just deep breath and tell yourself that you are safe and not in danger. Relationship this until your body calls. Over time you can heal this.

It's Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

This month we need to support survivors and help anyone who is struggling in an abusive situation to start looking at their options for a better life.

Do you know of anyone that could use your support? Can you donate to a Domestic violence shelter?

I worked at a shelter in 2018-19 and they try to help those that want to help themselves. There are barriers sometimes, like drugs/addiction and financial, that can hinder their ability to STAY OUT of the situation. Sometimes they go back to the abuser because they don't have the support or means to do it themselves.

But if anything, you can always be there for anyone you know in this type of situation because they need to know they are not alone. Sometimes that support is what will eventually help them leave for good!

Share this for awareness or reach out if you need support!

Hard truth after the divorce. It comes out of nowhere and my example today is around anxiety.

It was just me and my youngest, who was a teenager at the time, after the divorce and one day we had an argument or something was in disagreement between us. I realized out of nowhere I was having anxiety trying to deal with how to handle the situation with her. I had never experienced anxiety like that before.

Anxiety can be a lasting effect AFTER you've left the abusive relationship. But you can heal it, just takes effort and time!
