I may have missed but it’s always a good time to post pics of Mak, especially when they’re pics from his 👏 first 👏 eye 👏 exam 👏

Major thanks to Dr. Frannie at for a thorough and fun first pediatric eye exam. I’m glad to confirm that Mak’s eyes 👀 look perfect! Now for the elephant in the post… why didn’t we see a doc with ? Not all eye docs are trained - or patient enough - to effectively work with young kids. It’s definitely a specialty, and Dr. Frannie nailed it. Her practice is focused on young kiddos, so We’ll be visiting little eyes in Carmel for the next few exams until Mak is old enough to see the awesome eye docs at (age 5+!). Highly recommend taking your young kiddos there too.

And reminder, your babes should have three exams before kindergarten to ensure their visual development is on track ✅

Listening to fellow member and PR pro .scott10 talk about building your personal brand tonight has made me think long and hard about the content I put out on social media. So! For those who don’t see my stories, or perhaps you’re new to my feed, I want to recap the two major narratives that I’m focused on, and posting about, in my life right now:

1️⃣ Being a mom. Good god being a mom is hard. What on earth is balance anymore? Or sleep? Also, babies don’t come with a how-to guide or customer support, so I talk a lot about the chaos and challenges that accompany and the pursuit of “doing it all.” It’s tough. It’s unpredictable. It’s educational. But most of all, it’s rewarding to see Mak learn and grow from what feels like a real-time experiment. So far, it’s working.

2️⃣ Eyes. Eyewear. Eye care. All things . Continuing the legacy of , my family’s 83 year old business, is my professional passion. It’s been a wild ride to get to this point… starting with roles in healthcare PR and marketing, moving on to drive corporate and consumer healthcare for a major vision company, and then coming back HOME. It turns out that home is many things. Home is where is. Home is indianapolis where i grew up. Home is my family business. Home is where my heart is. So you’ll see me sharing lots of educational STUFF about vision, glasses and my favorite providers of these goods and services.

And that’s that! These are the narratives that resonate most with me today. I recognize that these stories and focuses will change over time, but for now, if you’re not interested in either of those, you may want to mute me 🤣🤣

So is 12 days away, and in thinking about that, my head fills with all the places I’d rather be… all of which ironically require sunglasses. Because it’s still working hours, I’ll have to travel via green screen for now. Here’s what I’m dreaming of… The mountains. The beach. The open road in the country. The golf course. The playground. The pool. The stroll around my neighborhood. All of these places, which are NOT my work desk, require sunglasses. So take this as a sign to go dig out your specs and get outdoors… ditch your green screen and truly GO. I’m going to call it quits here soon and do the same. Tell me where you dream of going… after 5 pm haha.

If you’re happy and you know it, wave your arms like a crazy lady!

Being in a room full of passionate advocates brings me so much joy. It is so inspiring to see how my fellow attendees style their eyewear, and so very educational to learn how they customize their optical offices to educate their patients. Some of them were even nominated for practice of the year! The future is bright yall… so get yourself some 🕶️/👓

This week, for the first time in a LONG time I put together an that brought me joy. This frame felt like the perfect purple Valentine’s Day pop when coupled with a leopard print heart tee and oversized earrings. And dang it, I felt so ALIVE wearing this combo! Turns out I needed a reminder that spending a little extra time picking out a whole outfit to match my eyewear is indeed worth the time when measured by the joy it brings. Perhaps I can make this at least a monthly commitment?! We’ll see…

It’s happening!! 😵‍💫 In a week (ish) we’re planning to meet baby boy K. I’m feeling both SO ready and yet completely unprepared at the same time. If I’m being honest, up until he emerges, I’ll be over here scrambling like hell to get my act together with work, home and personal. I love having a plan. And i hope we stick to it. But in the meantime! Send me and all your good vibes and share your best tips for raising tiny humans, plz!

It would be silly to think 2021 highlights wouldn’t include industry events. Between the product launch event and .expo, i was still able to sneak in a few moments with many of my favorite people while we all snuck in a years worth of fun and learning… all compacted into a few short days! While 2022 will look very different with Baby K on the way, I’m hoping the year will still include lots of time with the smartest, hardest working industry folks out there!
