Many families feel nervous when they first hear the term “AAC,” but AAC is simply another way to help a child communicate when talking is difficult.
It doesn’t mean we’re giving up on speech. It means we’re making sure your child has a way to tell you what they want, how they feel, and what they’re thinking right now, not months or years from now.
Every child deserves a way to be heard.
The earlier children have access to communication, the more opportunities they have to learn, connect, and participate in everyday life.

Go Baby Go is a community program that modifies off-the-shelf electric ride-on toy cars to provide independent mobility, socialization, and fun for young children with physical or cognitive challenges. Hendryx got his adapted car at the event at the convention center and practiced driving around with his PT, Katelyn, OT, Alyssa, and OT Student Amanda.

Separation anxiety is a sign of a healthy attachment, not a sign that you’ve done something wrong. Most children adjust with time, consistency, and lots of reassurance. Use consistent routines and clear expectations to set them up for success!

Our amazing speech therapist, Meg, had an awesome session with Zander this week. “Bagless” doesn’t mean boring.
As a bagless therapist, I’ve learned that some of the richest language opportunities happen in the most unexpected places.
Today’s session found us exploring a local creek. We turned over rocks, searched for tiny creatures, watched the water move, and followed Zander’s curiosity wherever it led. Every new discovery gave us a chance to introduce new vocabulary, ask questions, make observations, compare, request, problem solve, and show his family how to create meaningful language opportunities long after our session ended.
The best part? None of it was planned. The language was authentic because it was rooted in what Zander was seeing, feeling, and experiencing in that very moment. Those are the moments children remember, and those are the moments where communication becomes meaningful.
When children are engaged, communication has a purpose. Sometimes, all you need for a great speech session is a curious 2 year old, a mama who’s ready to jump in (literally!) and a creek.
