Ever left a doctor’s visit unsure of what to do next? You’re not alone, and you deserve clear answers. πŸ’™πŸ’š

For Health Literacy Month, Jane Meyer, a HealthNet Health Educator for 39 years, shares how asking questions can help you feel more confident in your care. 🀝

At your next visit, ask: What is my main health issue? What do I need to do? Why is it important? If something is unclear, let your care team know. We want you to feel comfortable speaking up and understand what to do when you get home.

Save this as a reminder for your next appointment, and share it with someone who could use a little encouragement to ask questions. 🩺

Proud moment for Indiana’s community health centers! πŸ›οΈ Yesterday, HealthNet President & CEO RenΓ© Kougel joined the Indiana Primary Health Care Association (IPHCA) and health center leaders from across the state to present Governor Mike Braun with the inaugural Governor Mike Braun Community Health Center Champion Award. πŸ†

Created in his honor, the award recognizes extraordinary support for Indiana’s health centers. From the U.S. Senate to the Statehouse, Governor Braun has championed primary care, affordability, and access for rural and underserved communities, including protecting health centers from proposed 340B changes this year.

Thank you, Governor Braun, for standing with community health centers and the nearly 900,000 Hoosiers we serve. πŸ’™

Make managing your health care a little easier with HealthNet’s Patient Portal. πŸ’™πŸ’š Learn more and get started at indyhealthnet.org/patient-portal. πŸ”—

The Patient Portal gives you safe, secure access to your health information from a computer or smartphone. You can view shot records, send non-urgent questions to your care team, request medicine refills, and more. The portal is also available in Spanish. 🩺

Don't have an account yet? Visit a HealthNet registration desk, complete a Patient Portal consent form, and provide a personal, non-work email address. For on-the-go access, download the Healow app and find HealthNet using code AIHGAA. πŸ“²

The Patient Portal should not be used for emergencies or urgent, same-day medical needs. Call 911 during a medical emergency or contact your health center if you need urgent or same-day care. 🚨

Do you have questions about Medicaid or health insurance? HealthNet’s enrollment team is here to help. πŸ’™πŸ’š Get support at indyhealthnet.org/enrollment-services, even if you are not currently a HealthNet patient. πŸ”—

Our trained enrollment team can help you apply for coverage, renew your benefits, understand notices, update your information, and learn your next steps. We can also help you use the FSSA Benefits Portal to keep your address, income, and other important details current. πŸ“„

If you have Healthy Indiana Plan coverage, you can use FSSA’s HIP Work Requirements Pre-Screening Tool at hipworkscreen.in.gov to see whether upcoming requirements may apply to you or whether you may qualify for an exemption. This tool does not make the final decision about your coverage.

Medicaid and insurance changes can be confusing, but you don't have to figure them out alone. Let HealthNet help you understand your options and take the next step. 🩺

Good health decisions start with clear, understandable information. During National Health Education Week, October 19–23, HealthNet is reminding patients that questions are an important part of care. πŸ’™πŸ’š Book a visit at indyhealthnet.org. πŸ”—

Health education can help you understand which vaccines or screenings you need, how to take a new medicine, when to seek care, and how to manage conditions like asthma, diabetes, or high blood pressure.

At HealthNet, our providers explain your options in clear language, connect you with trusted resources, and help you make informed health decisions. 🩺

When a baby arrives, everyone asks how the baby is doing. New parents deserve to be asked how they are doing, too. πŸ’™πŸ’š

You can love your baby deeply and still feel sad, anxious, angry, overwhelmed, or unlike yourself. Those feelings do not make you ungrateful or a bad parent. Postpartum depression and anxiety are common, treatable, and never something you have to face alone. πŸ«‚

Tu salud importa. Your health matters. πŸ’™πŸ’š This National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day, take a step for your sexual health with confidential HIV testing and prevention support from HealthNet. Learn more at indyhealthnet.org/hiv. πŸ”—

HealthNet’s Sexual Health & Wellness team provides completely confidential, judgment-free care. At outreach events, people age 13 and older can receive a rapid HIV finger-stick test with results in about one minute. 🚐

HealthNet also offers PrEP services at every health center, along with PrEP navigation to help you understand your options and connect with care. Some sexual health needs, including STI testing and treatment or concerns about HIV prevention and exposure, may also be addressed through HealthNet Now same-day care. 🩺

This October 15, remember that knowing your status and learning about prevention are important ways to care for yourself. Everyone deserves sexual health care that respects their privacy, culture, and individual needs. πŸ«‚
