DID YOU KNOW …
your body has an entire regulatory system named after a plant? The endocannabinoid system (ECS) … discovered in the 1990s … helps regulate sleep, mood, pain, appetite, immune response, and inflammation. Most people have never heard of it because it’s not routinely taught outside specialty research, even though it may be one of the most important systems for maintaining balance in the body. H**p contains compounds (like C*D and CBG) that interact with this very system — which is part of why so many people are curious about it as a natural, plant-based ally for everyday wellness. Research is still evolving on exactly how and how much these compounds help, but the existence of the ECS itself is well-established science, not fringe theory.
So why was h**p banned in the first place? In 1937, the Ma*****na Tax Act lumped industrial h**p — which contains virtually no THC — in with ma*****na, despite the two being very different plants with very different uses. Historians point to a mix of factors: competition from emerging synthetic fiber and timber industries, aggressive federal anti-drug policy under the newly formed Federal Bureau of Narcotics, and yes, racialized fears tied to ma*****na at the time. Whatever the exact mix of causes, one thing is clear: h**p’s ban had very little to do with h**p actually being dangerous. Nearly 90 years later, as science reconnects the dots, another potential ban threatens to take away access to a plant that’s been safely used for fiber, food, and wellness for thousands of years. If this matters to you, your family, or your community … let’s speak up!
I received this email from our friends at Cornbread H**p. If you use C*D/H**p products, check this out.
"On Monday, Senator Ted Budd announced that he plans to offer an amendment that would remove the temporary extension protecting the h**p industry from a sweeping federal ban. If it succeeds, this amendment would eliminate the extension included in the Senate funding bill, putting the h**p industry back on track for the federal ban scheduled to take effect on November 12.
We need your help to stop this immediately. If the ban takes effect, it will be devastating for hundreds of thousands of farmers, small businesses, jobs, and customers like you who rely on natural h**p-based wellness products.
Use the link below to contact your Senators today and urge them to oppose Senator Budd’s proposed amendment to remove the h**p extension. The message is pre-written for you and only takes about 30 seconds to send.
Thank you for using your voice and for standing with us to protect h**p.
