I had the chance to attend TEDSports Indianapolis this past summer and left feeling incredibly inspired.

The speakers covered so many important topics shaping the future of sports — but a few themes really stuck with me. The conversations around women in sports, athlete mental health, and the current state of youth sports were especially powerful.

One idea that really resonated was the discussion about how youth sports have shifted over the years. In many ways, we’ve unintentionally made them less accessible for the average athletic kid — focusing more on early specialization, travel teams, and high costs instead of participation, development, and simply loving the game. It’s an important conversation for anyone who cares about the future of sports.

I was also moved by the talks highlighting mental health awareness for athletes and the importance of supporting the whole person, not just the performance.
