Parents—this is an important one to talk about at home.

You may have seen the “Benadryl Challenge” circulating online, but this is far from harmless. It’s been linked to the deaths of three children in Connecticut and health experts are urging families to take it seriously.

Dr. Jeremy Gagan, Community Health Network emergency medicine physician, recently shared on WTHR-TV just how dangerous this trend can be. Taking high doses of Benadryl can cause severe drowsiness, confusion, dangerous heart rhythm issues and even life-threatening complications.

If you have kids or teens on social media, now is a good time to start the conversation about medication safety and the real risks behind viral challenges. What may seem like a joke online can have very real consequences.

It feels like menopause is having a moment—and Dr. Claire Edelman is here for it. 🙌

In a recent interview with WTHR-TV, she shares why more women talking about menopause is such a big deal. It helps break the stigma, normalize the experience and encourages women to seek care sooner.

The reality? Symptoms like hot flashes, brain fog, sleep issues and mood changes can start earlier than many expect—sometimes as early as your late 30s.

The good news: there are options. From lifestyle changes to hormone therapy, care is personalized to help women feel their best through every stage.

Start the conversation. Your future self will thank you. 🧡

HPV testing is one of the most important tools we have to help prevent cervical cancer.

There’s a newer option some patients are asking about: an HPV self-swab test.
In a new video, Dr. Ashley Perkins at Community Health Network in Westfield shares how this FDA-approved option works and who it may be right for—especially for patients who feel anxious about discomfort during a traditional exam.

The goal is the same: screening early, when cervical cancer is most treatable.
If you’ve been putting off screening or have questions about your options, start with a conversation. Your provider can help you decide what’s right for you.

Dr. Ashley Perkins recently stopped by WTHR-TV to talk about something we don’t hear about enough—the gap between men’s and women’s health.

While women often live longer, they can spend more of those years dealing with health issues.

Dr. Perkins breaks down why that happens and, more importantly, what you can do about it, like staying on top of screenings, finding a provider you trust and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.

Your health matters, and your voice does too. 🧡

More men die from lung cancer each year than from colon, prostate and pancreatic cancers combined.

That fact can be surprising, especially because lung cancer doesn’t always come with loud warning signs, including:

- A lingering cough
- Shortness of breath that feels new
- Fatigue that doesn’t make sense

These signs don’t automatically mean cancer, but they do mean it’s worth paying attention.
