During Stroke Awareness Month, we are proud to recognize the strength, determination, and progress of stroke survivors like Rob.
At just 43 years old, Rob experienced multifocal frontal lobe and basal ganglia infarcts, presenting with left-sided weakness. When he arrived at CRHN, he required significant assistance with daily activities including feeding, dressing, bathing, toileting, standing, and walking. Even taking a few steps required the help of two people.
Through hard work, dedication, and perseverance, Rob made incredible progress during his rehabilitation journey. By discharge, he was independently completing all bathing and dressing tasks, walking more than 150 feet with a cane, navigating uneven surfaces and stairs independently, and even getting up and down from the floor without physical assistance.
One especially meaningful milestone was the return of function in his left arm, allowing him to resume crocheting — a hobby he loved before his stroke.
Rob’s journey is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible, and every step forward matters. Thank you, Rob, for allowing us to be part of your recovery story and for inspiring others during Stroke Awareness Month.
