Men are significantly less likely than women to seek routine, preventive care from a healthcare provider, which means they may be missing out on important health screenings that are part of any annual wellness visit.

For men under 40, this could include a physical exam, checking your blood pressure, metabolic screening, STI screening, vaccines, and a conversation about your family medical history.

For men over 40, they may be missing all of the above, plus cardiovascular risk screening, cancer screenings (prostate, colon, lung), and an eye exam.

For seniors, they may be missing an additional osteoporosis screening and a fall risk assessment.

If you haven't yet made an appointment for your annual checkup, take a moment to schedule one. Your IHC provider will walk you through what’s right for you based on your age and personal health history.

June is Men’s Health Month and at IHC, we’re highlighting ways to improve the health of men in our community.

Men are significantly less likely than women to seek medical care. That means conditions that are easy to catch early often go undetected until they’re harder to treat. The good news? A simple check-up can change everything.

This June, make the call and schedule your appointment with IHC today.

Men’s Health Month shines a light on the unique health challenges faced by men and boys. At Indiana Health Centers (IHC), we believe everyone in our community deserves access to high-quality, affordable, patient-centered healthcare.

Dr. Addison Haynes, Chief Medical Officer at Indiana Health Centers, shared his perspective on why it's important to check your blood pressure.

"Most of the time, high blood pressure does not cause any symptoms or signs that we can see or feel. Occasionally it can cause headaches, that is rarer than you would think. We call high blood pressure, hypertension, the silent killer. You tend to feel completely fine until something very serious happens and it can cause permeant damage. Most people don’t catch it early because they simply do not check. Just getting in with your primary care doctor once a year can get you screened and treated if needed!"
