We were so excited to have Brittany from the Center of Wellness for Urban Women (CWUW) in the workshop to explore a partnership. She helped create a gorgeous bouquet to be delivered to an individual in the health care setting. đŸ©·

August is National Breastfeeding Month, and the 2026 theme is RISE: Resilience, Interdependence, Self-Determination, Empowerment.

The U.S. Breastfeeding Committee created this year’s theme to reflect the heart and strength of the First Food field and the continued work needed to advance policies, systems, and environments that make breastfeeding support accessible to every family.

At Centers of Wellness for Urban Women (CWUW), we believe women deserve the information, resources, encouragement, and freedom to make informed decisions about feeding their babies. Supporting breastfeeding also means addressing the real conditions that can make it difficult, including access to knowledgeable care, workplace accommodations, family and community support, economic barriers, and racial inequities in maternal and infant health.

Through our Whole Health approach, CWUW supports women before, during, and after pregnancy by connecting them to healthcare, community resources, education, and supportive services.

This month, we celebrate the women who breastfeed, the families who support them, and the communities working to make breastfeeding support equitable and accessible.

When women RISE, families and communities rise with them.

Whole Health isn’t new to us.

Since 2007, CWUW has understood that wellness is about more than what happens at the doctor’s office. It’s about the WHOLE you.

Physical. Emotional. Spiritual. Social. Intellectual. Occupational. Environmental.

These 7 Dimensions of Wellness are connected, and for nearly 20 years, they’ve helped shape how we support women, families, and communities.

Because wellness is bigger than healthcare. It’s how we live, work, connect, grow, and care for ourselves and each other.
