Join The Exchange and newly appointed Deputy Mayor of Neighborhoods for the city of Indianapolis, Jordan Gathers.
Gathers was appointed by the mayor on May 1, 2026. He most recently served as Executive Director of Venues, Parks & Arts for the City of South Bend, where he led the city’s expansive parks system, cultural venues, and public spaces. In this role, he oversaw initiatives that supported community vitality, expanded access to recreation, and enhanced quality of place assets.
Gathers previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff to South Bend’s 33rd Mayor James Mueller, helping to guide citywide strategy, communications, and daily operations. His public service career builds on earlier work with Indiana University Health, where he supported executive leadership and strategic initiatives at both Methodist and University Hospitals.
A former Division I student athlete, Gathers competed for St. Bonaventure Bonnies men’s basketball and Butler Bulldogs men’s basketball, serving as a team captain and appearing in the NCAA Tournament. He has a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
