🌴⛳️ Teeing Off in Paradise! 🦩☀️

The Village was proud to sponsor and participate in this year's Indianola Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament! We embraced the "Tee Off in Paradise" theme with a little tropical flair, a flock of flamingos, and plenty of fun along the course.

Events like this are a great reminder of the power of community connections. We love supporting the Chamber, local businesses, and the people who make Indianola such a wonderful place to live, work, and play.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our hole, shared a laugh, and helped make the day a success. We had a flamingo-tastic time and are already looking forward to next year! 🦩

Today marks an important milestone for WesleyLife as Allison Pendroy officially begins her tenure as president and CEO.

Allison succeeds Rob Kretzinger, who is retiring after nearly 30 years of leadership with WesleyLife, including more than two decades as president and CEO. This transition reflects years of thoughtful succession planning, as well as WesleyLife’s continued commitment to growth, innovation, and service.

Since joining WesleyLife as chief operating officer in 2023, Allison has helped strengthen operations, support communities and services, and advance priorities that help older adults experience independence, health, well-being, and joy wherever they call home.

As we welcome Allison to this new role, we also honor Rob’s lasting impact and the strong foundation he helped build.

Today marks Rob Kretzinger’s final day as president and CEO of WesleyLife.

After nearly 30 years of leadership, including more than two decades as president and CEO, Rob concludes a tenure defined by vision, service, growth, and a deep belief in what aging can and should be.

Under Rob’s leadership, WesleyLife grew from five retirement communities serving about 1,000 people to Iowa’s largest and most comprehensive nonprofit provider of health and well-being services for older adults, supporting more than 13,000 people each year. But his legacy extends far beyond numbers. Rob challenged us to confront ageism, think differently about health and well-being, protect what matters most, and continue evolving in service to those we support.

As we give thanks for Rob’s leadership, we invite you to read this tribute reflecting on his impact and the future he helped make possible.

Thank you, Rob, for your vision, faith, service, and unwavering commitment to WesleyLife.

Today we took our Total Body Conditioning class outside! The fresh air and beautiful views made for the perfect start to Wellness Wednesday. 💪

Spending time outdoors has been shown to help reduce stress, boost mood, and improve overall mental well-being — even just 20 minutes outside can make a positive difference. We loved soaking up the sunshine while staying active together! ☀️

We love that our campus brings joy to all generations! Recently, students from Strong Roots Christian School spent the afternoon with residents creating meaningful memories together. From painting colorful rocks for our Meditation Garden to enjoying Bingo — and of course topping off the day with an ice cream sundae bar — the laughter and conversations were nonstop! 🍨

Intergenerational connections like these do more than brighten a day. Studies show that meaningful interactions between older adults and youth can reduce feelings of loneliness, improve emotional well-being, foster empathy, and create a stronger sense of community for everyone involved. These shared experiences help bridge generations while reminding us all of the value of connection, kindness, and belonging. ⭐️

We are so grateful for the students who shared their time, talents, and energy to bring smiles and joy to our residents. Next time you visit campus, be sure to take a stroll through our Meditation Garden and keep an eye out for the hand-painted pops of colorful rocks hidden throughout! 🌸🪻

There’s something truly special about the friendship between generations. 📚

We celebrated the end of another beautiful year of Victory Christian Academy Book Buddies in our meditation garden at The Village — filled with laughter, bubbles, ice cream, and hearts connected through stories.

As we also honored Mental Health Awareness Month, our Book Buddies shared inspirational messages along the walking paths to remind every person who passes by that they are loved, valued, and never alone. 💚

What began as a reading program became so much more:
A place for encouragement.
A place for connection.
A place where young hearts and wise hearts remind each other that kindness changes lives.

These Thursdays have left footprints on all of our hearts.
