Virginia A. Fogelberg

Virginia Adeline Fogelberg, nee Toebaas, passed away peacefully at age 102 on July 25th, 2026 in Corpus Christi, Texas. "Ginny" was born in 1923 to Oviatt and Othelia "Tilly" Toebaas and raised on the Toebaas farm outside of Iola, Wisconsin. After graduation from Iola High in 1941 she worked as a sales clerk in Chicago and graduated from the Norwegian American Hospital School of Nursing as an RN in 1946.

She traveled with the Polio Foundation during the epidemic from 1949 through 1951 caring for victims prior to the development of the Salk Vaccine.

After the Polio campaign Ginny entered the US Air Force as a nurse, stationed at Chanute Air Force Base Hospital in Illinois. There she met patient Lt. Tenny Fogelberg who had been seriously wounded in an aircraft crash during a combat mission in the Korean Conflict. After several years at the hospital Ginny and Tenny left the Air Force and got married in 1955.

The Fogelbergs then moved to Los Angeles where they raised two children: daughter Diane was born in 1958 and son Jack in 1959. Ginny ran the household, and volunteered for the PTA, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts. She also volunteered as a school nurse and then in 1975 she returned to professional nursing as a Home Health Nurse with Glendora Community Hospital in the Los Angeles area.

Upon retirement in 1987 they settled in Iola, spending the first years remodeling the Toebaas home and wintering in Brownsville, Texas. Ginny enjoyed golf, cooking, entertaining friends, watching the Packers, and visits with the grandchildren. She was a member of the Glacier Wood Golf Club, the Iola Historical Society, and the American Legion.

After Tenny passed in 2020 at age 95, Ginny moved from Iola to her daughter's home in Ricardo, Texas.

Preceding Ginny in death was brother Lorin. Surviving are daughter Diane (Tim) Robertson, son Jack, granddaughter Genna Fogelberg, grandsons Brian and Mark (Laura Marquez) Robertson and Sean Fogelberg, great-granddaughters Lilliana and Veronica Robertson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held on September 26 at the Hitterdahl Lutheran Church. Visitation will take place at 9:30 with service at 11:00, followed by luncheon in town. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hitterdahl Lutheran Church, PO Box 334 Iola WI 54945.

Shirley Ruth Bayba

Shirley Ruth Bayba, age 93, of Phoenix, AZ died Tuesday August4, 2026 at home in Phoenix surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 1, 1932 the daughter of the late Charles and Hilda (Hartman) Jones. She graduated from Carl Shurz High School in Chicago and then went on to complete a course of study in child evangelism at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. She married Lewellyn B. Bayba on August 28, 1954 in Chicago. In 1961 the couple moved to Phoenix, Arizona with the first four of their children where Lewellyn completed his family practice medical residency and later relocated to San Manuel, Arizona where they resided for over 30 years. Shirley worked tirelessly as a homemaker and also taught kindergarten for her own children and others at the community center in San Manuel. She practiced her training and faith holding a weekly

Good News Club in her home for the elementary school aged children of San Manuel. Shirley also accompanied her husband (physician) on multiple medical mission trips to Mexico where she did what she loved, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with countless children using homemade wordless gospel bracelets which she always carried with her. Shirley was also active in her local church's Awana Chums children's programs after Lewellyn's retirement and relocation to Tucson. Shirley was a selfless, humble person who loved God and her family. She is survived by her sons: Jonathan (Judy) Bayba of Wausau, WI, Andrew (Patty) Bayba of Sierra Vista, AZ, and David (Molly) Bayba of Chandler, AZ and daughters: Ellen Bayba of Phoenix, AZ, Laurie (Phil) Card-Roley of Wenatchee, WA and Rebecca (John) Rodriguez of Phoenix, AZ. She is survived by 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren and sister Donna (Charlie) Fulk of Farmersville, IL.

She was preceded in death by a son: Lewellyn J., husband: Lewellyn B., and brother: Charles R. Jones, Sr. The funeral will be held at the Voie Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Street, lola WI at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Interment will be at Northland Lutheran Cemetery in Iola1 Thessalonians 5:18 "in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you,"

Bertram Jerome Siegel

Bertram J. Siegel, 80, of Iola, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026. He was born on October 4, 1945 in Chicago to the late Barney and Agnes (Caspers) Siegel. Bert married Kathleen Groya on Dec 10, 1966 in Chicago.

He was self employed at Bert Siegel Enterprises throughout the years. Bert was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding with his brothers. He also enjoyed the many pets he had over the years along with fishing and boating.

He is survived by his Wife: Kathy, Sons: Scott Siegel, Reggie (Colette) Siegel and Josh Siegel. Grandchildren: Alivia, Avarie and Brynley.

He was preceded in death by a Brother and Sister in law: Joseph (Rosalie) Siegel

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Little Falls Resort in Little Falls on Saturday, August 15, from noon to 6 PM

Jeanette C. Peterson

Jeanette C. Peterson, 89, of Iola, formerly of Amherst Jct, passed away on July 21, 2026 at Living Oaks Assistance in Iola. She was born on November 3, 1936 in Amherst Jct, WI to Almer and Lettie (Kolden) Peterson. Jeanette graduated from Amherst High School in 1955. Jeanette went to work at the Amherst Telephone Company, a a switch board operator at the Nelsonville Office, also worked at HO Wolding Trucking in the office for a few years. Later years, as a care giver for Portage County and same for Anna Maday as a care giver. Jeannette enjoyed gardening, embroidery work, watching games shows on TV and visiting with family and friends.

She is survived by her Sister in law: Rosemarie Peterson, cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Almer and Lettie Peterson and brother, Arlyn Peterson.

The Funeral Service for Jeanette will be held on Wednesday July 29, 2026, 2:00 PM at the Nelsonville Lutheran Church with Rev. Dwight Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at the Nelsonville Lutheran Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Living Oaks for there loving care, and care from St Croix Hospice staff.

Kenneth Herbert Blanchard

Kenneth Herbert Blanchard, 73, of Iola, went to his heavenly home on July 21, 2026, He was born on August 31, 1952 in Blaine, Minnesota to Kenneth and Betty (Kittle) Blanchard. Ken married Judy Lindsey on October 21, 1978 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. She survives.

Ken served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and worked as a technician on the Blackbird SR71 and U-2 spy planes. He enjoyed bowling, watching war movies and playing Bingo with Judy.

He was preceded in death by his Daughter: Shannon Murray, Parents: Kenneth Blanchard & Betty Blanchard-Finner, Brothers: Glenn and Shannon and Step Father: Rollie Finner.

Interment and Military Rites will take place at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at Silver Lake Lanes in Scandinavia from 3-6 PM. on Wednesday July 29th, 2026.
